To hold debt, especially revolving type is a very bad thing. Save your money for the majority of purchases, like cars and lawnmowers...

As a developer, have you ever wondered: You type a 16‑digit card number and the form instantly says “Invalid card number”. There are billions of possible numbers. How the hell is that check that fast?

100% agree. As for your friends. I’d tell them it’s easier to pay for bills and to get your financial goals consistent when finances are mixed. If they don’t want to fully integrate I’d say have them open a checking account and deposit exactly the amount of bills they have together. Then have a savings account for goals for anything that they’d both save for (like a house down payment, or a vacation.) that way they can start working together like a team and not two individuals
