I have recently written a pretty lengthy piece regarding my investment process; what I like to look for in companies and what is a dealbreaker for me. In this article, I show readers my maybe-unique-maybe-stupid 'lens-based' framework that I practice, which has taken a toll for the better on my portfolio. SPENT A DAY WITH A QUANT FROM TCI FUND MANAGEMENT He rebuilt my strategy in 6 hours and doubled the efficiency. Same markets, same capital. I was calculating probabilities. He said "forget probabilities" and opened Jupyter: |contract⟩ = √p |YES⟩ + √(1−p) |NO⟩ "You see a price, i see a state. Two contracts at the same price with different momentum - two different vectors. One is worth entering, the other is a trap. You can't tell them apart" Then he looked at which markets I trade, the most liquid, the biggest. ΔPrice * ΔMomentum ≥ constant "The more liquid the market the less information in the price movement, you're trading where the edge is already dead" Flipped my filter - instead of top markets by volume sorted by the lowest, thin markets, wide spreads, where everyone is afraid. Three changes, same account. 6 hours later: +$800 No wonder his salary is 7figs.

@KlendathuCap For a long time they said it’s too expensive to consider a buyback. It’s probably getting close to where buying back shares is about even with their acquisition pipeline. I bought some for the first time.

If your position is down 30%+, you made a mistake. A big one. This applies to every stock, not just $DUOL, and it doesn’t mean $DUOL is a bad company or that Antonio is a bad stock picker. Everyone makes mistakes. But holding a stock down 70% is not conviction. It’s ego. It means you own a company the market refuses to reward while you insist you’re right. Millions scream at you that you are wrong, and you ignore them. You’re still down 70%. That’s a fact. That's the definition of being wrong. Even if $DUOL makes new highs in two or three years, you were still wrong then. You misunderstood something and paid for it with years of underperformance, likely more as you probably will DCA to the grave. By ego, again. The market decides who’s right and who’s wrong. A buy at $150 may be right. But the original thesis wasn’t. You should accept being wrong.
