Maybe the wildest thing we learned doing this research: PHL Performing Arts Charter reported paying nearly **$3 million**/yr in mgmt fees to former CEO Angela Corosanite the past 2 years. That's seemingly on top of her $429,753 comp from their parent org String Theory Schools.

Hey Philly! What if we all joined the general strike? 👀 The faculty and staff of @CCPedu are also working without a contract and only getting disrespect at the table. Solidarity with @afscme33 and TWU and SMART

Leaders representing 14,000 union workers are coordinating strategies, potentially leading to a united-front strike amid ongoing contract negotiations. #Echobox=1732049552" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">inquirer.com/transportation…

Additionally, a lot of this administrative work is contracted out to mgmt consulting firms based in the suburbs, meaning fewer jobs for Philadelphia residents and less tax revenue compared to if the schools were managed by the School District.

Another interesting thing: in FY21, the median Philly charter school spent 20% of its total current expenditures on administration, while the School District of Philadelphia spent just 12% on admin. If you hate bloated bureaucratic waste, you should oppose charterization.

@JJ_21564 Why is it the only street with a yellow dotted line and neighborhood label next to it then? There are dozens of Asian American owned businesses in the blocks between Filbert and Arch, 9th and 11th

@ResearchPhilly You realize the gate is the border and the building you are pointing at is on the other side of the the gate, right?

@JJ_21564 Even your own map shows the arena crossing into Chinatown above the dotted yellow line lol

@JJ_21564 Proposed development is literally adjacent to Chinatown businesses. 10th St already experiences heavy traffic and now will be going right next to the arena. Regardless of some arbitrary border, the neighborhood will be heavily directly affected.

@ShadyTim215 @mr_saltz Top 3 all had support from both progressive orgs and the establishment party, so not surprising they came out on top. If left united against Squilla, it would be a different situation in a head-to-head race. Landau's the furthest left of the 3 who won and she got the most votes.

@ResearchPhilly @mr_saltz Lets go back to the OP & the data posted in support. If Amanda couldn't make it into the top 3 for at large in that district it doesn't bode well for a far left candidate running head to head against Squilla. Unless you have a spoiler candidate to split his base Squilla stays.

With respect to PPR, you could run Bryce Harper in the district and Squilla would still pull ≈45%
Philly Power Research@ResearchPhilly

If @marksquilla supports the arena and gets a serious anti-arena challenger from the left next election, seems like he would likely lose. Parker got just 10% of the vote in his district last year. Progressive org-backed candidates swept Council At-Large primary in his district.

@ShadyTim215 @mr_saltz Came within 1.6% in CD8, and the demographics of CD1 are more favorable for the left. I get that Squilla is probably more popular than Bass, but it's not out of the question and if Squilla is interested in running again, he should at least be considering it.

@mr_saltz PPR is stuck in leftist thought bubble that's divorced from reality and as a result the let their ideology decide their findings and then cherry pick data to to support their preordained conclusions . If a left candidate couldn't defeat Bass they have no chance with Squilla.

@mr_saltz Not all unions support the arena! Unite Here, UFCW, community college unions have come out against or skeptical. Plenty of others like AFSCME and PFT that haven't publicly taken a side (afaik) but definitely have a lot of anti-arena members

@Johnbrown1860 @marksquilla The Gym votes plus even just 1/2 of the Rhynhart ones would be a win for the anti-arena candidate. All of the adjacent neighborhood groups have come out against the arena. Plenty of not typically left-aligned voters there to boost the anti-arena candidate too.
