We are not meant to be satisfied yet. St. Augustine says the soul grows by longing. Desire stretches it. Fasting is not self-punishment. It is training hunger. If you never feel the ache, you will never learn what it is for. Lent is not about the hunger. It is about what will finally satisfy it.

@hillbillythings St. Alphonsus says when prayer feels dry, it may actually be more pleasing to God because when prayer feels warm and consoling, we often pray because it feels good. But when prayer feels like nothing and you still show up that is pure love.

In one story, his sister spent the night at his home attached to his parish church when a strange rapping sound on the wall and table awakened her. After hours of organizing for two days putting things in their “place,” it’s going to be so confusing in a couple of days. I’m loving the rosary centerpieces I’ve been creating and thinking this could be another side hustle for me. 😉
