Criterion Collection@Criterion

✨Announcing our JUNE 2026 Criterion Collection titles! ✨ bit.ly/2jXMD3N A one-of-a-kind Pan-African musical spectacular; an essential 1990s NYC queer romance; an irresistible, irreverent rock-and-soul comedy; an antifascist fairy tale; an urgent moral thriller from Iran; and, fresh from theaters, a radically antiheroic portrait of a sixteenth-century explorer. Plus! Three colorful paeans to bodies in motion; a masterpiece of early-1970s American alienation; and a deliciously dark 1960s comedic thriller.

Bringing classic games back sometimes feels exactly like this Silent Hill scene: a lot of fog, careful steps, and hoping the next door leads to progress. But damn, that tough road is worth it every time we see your reactions to those legendary titles coming back to life.

@thelocalg0blin @eveofthedaleks That book doesn’t really resolve anything, which doesn’t help with BF’s Dark Universe story or Power of the Doctor which completely ignores the book.

@aaminahinfilm Absolutely amazing that Fopp (and sister shop HMV) are the only proper boutique bluray/4k shops in the whole of London. Surely an opportunity for someone.

london-based cinephiles, istg fopp in central is probably the closest you will get to visiting the criterion closet because they have an insane criterion collection, lots of blu-rays and 4K HD ones and the prices are INSANE

It was lovely to see people at the BFI last week. I just want to thank those who comforted me when I broke down in tears. Grief is a horrible thing, and can be worse with a lot of alcohol. So thank you for helping me and sorry for embarrassing myself. Here’s a nice pic anyway:

@RazorwireRyan @BarryPierce I was at the first season marathon there, the whole beginning of the pilot where the news about Laura Palmer reaches the family and classmates were met with unnecessary laughter.

@BarryPierce Did the full TWIN PEAKS: THE RETURN marathon in October. Settle in, the first part starts... quiet scene in the woods. Cut to an establishing shot of New York: "HAHAHAHAHA!!!!" Pure, unrefined obnoxiousness. Later on, a small child dies: "HEE-HEE-HEEEEE!!!"

The first Red Dwarf novel, which I’ve read many times over the years since 1989. And also loaned to several mates in high school - even non sci-fi types - who all pronounced it to be legendary.

@theDWshow I’m definitely a lot more lenient in recent times towards it than when I first watched the finale and I agree. In a way it was watching the Lost Art Of Forehead Sweat episode that made me realise there no way all the big questions will ever be answered but enjoy what is made.

@RetroMc91 There was one aspect about which I thought, 'OK, so where does *that* lead, now that it's been on the TV?' but having watched 11 seasons of X-Files where plenty of loose threads are left hanging and a lot of things are never resolved, it wasn't that unusual to me in the end!

Finally watched the end of the X-Files, 8 years after it went out. And.. that was fine. All the fandom horror stories that I'd get to the end and the show would shit the bed.. nope. Absolutely fine. The second to last ep was its own kind of wrap up, too. I was 100% fine with it.
