🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ Transphobes love to say "sex is a binary and immutable" as if they just dropped the final word in biology. They didn't. What they actually did was stack a bunch of debate tricks into a clean little soundbite. They reduce human biology down to one trait (essentialism) They force it into two boxes (false binary) And then they call it "science" while ignoring everything that complicates it. Then they will try to play the definition game, deciding what "sex" means in the most narrow way possible so that they can't be wrong. And when you push back? They will retreat to "well male and female exist" (like no shit) Then they jump right back in to say "therefore trans people aren't valid." In debate, that's called a motte-and-bailey. Also, notice the wording they use: "immutable", "always", "never." That's not science. That's rhetoric designed to shut down conversation before it even starts. Because if you actually look at biology, it's quite messy. "Male" and "female" aren't some magical, unchangeable truths stamped into your soul. They're categories we use to organize a cluster of traits. Chromosomes. Hormones. Anatomy. Secondary Sex Characteristics. Those don't always align. And some of them can and do change. Especially with medical transition. That doesn't break biology. That IS biology. And "man" and "woman"? Those are social categories. They've changed across cultures, across history, and even within our own lifetimes. So no, this isn't about you "defending science." It's about you needing the world to be simple so your argument works. Simple spreads. Accuracy takes a bit more effort. Do better.
