As I've said to my students, it's going to be incredible when Van Til's works are finally translated into English.

From a Matthew Henry wedding sermon “Now you see what you must do that you may have the presence of God with you in your houses. And, I think, in shewing you what kind of presence that is, I have said enough to persuade you to it. Now will you be persuaded? If not, take what follows— the curse of God.”

“If the Church’s disciplinary severity might endanger its peace, the presbytery shall bear with patience what cannot be corrected peacefully, lest the wheat be uprooted with the tares. Augustine writes:
“When such discipline afflicts an individual, it strikes fear and compels repentance. But when the same affliction spreads to many, nothing remains for the faithful except grief and sighs.”
The Church must rebuke what it can and endure what it cannot, trusting the Lord to bring about improvement or await the final harvest.” (Franciscus Junius, Ecclesiastics)

@PerfInjust has jokers doing syllogisms and you’re blackpilling
Andrew T. Walker@AndrewTWalker

An interesting syllogism @RevKevDeYoung just used on stage with @JonathanLeeman at Coram Deo in talking about the role of the church versus the state: “Political orders require virtuous people. Only Christianity can form truly virtuous people. Therefore, the Church of Jesus Christ has the missional task of preaching the Gospel and forming a virtuous people.”

While the PCA's Directory for Worship has only one paragraph on 'The Visitation of the Sick' (BCO 60-1), the Westminster Assembly's Directory for Publick Worship (1645) has a long section with gems like this: "He [the minister] may, from the consideration of the present sickness, instruct him out of scripture, that diseases come not by chance, or by distempers of body only, but by the wise and orderly guidance of the good hand of God to every particular person smitten by them. And that, whether it be laid upon him out of displeasure for sin, for his correction and amendment, or for trial and exercise of his graces, or for other special and excellent ends, all his sufferings shall turn to his profit, and work together for his good, if he sincerely labour to make a sanctified use of God’s visitation, neither despising his chastening, nor waxing weary of his correction."

To be Christian and say that it is wrong to hate is to show at best a lack of knowledge of Scripture. “The fear of the Lord is hatred of evil.” Proverbs 8:13a

One thing that is obvious from traveling the world is that America and Europe are the bastion of (Protestant) Christianity. Much of the world is not like these Christian lands (even with their decline), and Christians in other countries are often indebted to the work of missionaries from America and Europe (such as Korea, Africa, and the Middle East). Additionally, Christians in other lands still rely on scholarship and publishing from elsewhere, especially America. Maybe that will change, but the USA still carries the torch for now. And that’s one reason why America must be defended and preserved.

If the phrase "in some sense" is in your writing, do not post it, publish it, or turn it in unless you specify the sense. I am especially looking at you Biblical Theology guys. Not requiring basic logic and categories to be memorized and learned in contemporary Biblical and Theological academia has lead to poor communication and muddied thinking. Ridderbos on union with Christ is a great example of this.
Jonathan J. McKenzie@JonMcK1647

"In some sense" should also be immediately met with "in what sense." Friends don't let friends not specify their sense.

From the intro of a sermon by Thornwell preaching in the Hall of the House of Representatives in 1854. He counts the Governor as 'our honoured Chief Magistrate' and the state of South Carolina as 'a Sovereign State prostrate before a Sovereign God.' "Though a minister of God should, on all occasions, magnify his office, and not be afraid of the faces of men, whether kings, princes, or people, yet, while cherishing the profound conviction that the protection of the Almighty is a defenced city, and an iron pillar and brazen walls against the whole land, I confess that a feeling of deep solicitude oppresses me in undertaking this service today. These are no ordinary circumstances under which we are convened—this no ordinary congregation which I am called to address. The august image of the Commonwealth rises before me. By her trusted agents and chosen representatives, South Carolina, in her organic capacity - as a distinct political community ; in the person of our honoured Chief Magistrate, in the two Houses of the Legislature, and the venerable Judges of the land - presents herself, in humility and mourning, before the footstool of Him who standeth in the congregation of the mighty and judgeth among the gods. A Sovereign State prostrate before a Sovereign God."

Paul’s being persecuted did not hinder but rather furthered the gospel. This emboldened others to great confidence in their speaking the word without fear. When good men are persecuted we must pray for it not to hinder the ministry. The gospel spreading despite persecution brings boldness. Additionally, if you fear persecution though it has not proved to hinder the ministry you ought to examine whether you are a false shepherd. Cf. Philippians 1:12-14

“…being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.” Philippians 1:11 Union with Christ leads to fruits of righteousness unto the glory and praise of God. Sanctification happens by the power of Jesus Christ that his Father might be praised.

South Carolina was not a 'diverse' place before post-1965 mass immigration. But it's becoming one. From 1980 to 2025 the foreign-born population of South Carolina increased by 878%, the 5th highest among all states. The US-born population rose by just 62%. 450,000 immigrants are 8.5% of the state's population. Their children are a further 3.2% of the population. In 1980 some 98.6% were American-born and 71.5% of the population of SC was born in the state, including 66% of SC's White Americans and 90% of SC's African Americans. ~87% of the population was born in the South. SC was populated by the same White American & African American populations that had settled, toiled, suffered, and bled to build the state. Today barely 52% of the population were born in South Carolina (a 19-point decline). Just 59% were born in the South (a 28-point decline). More people from New York and California live in South Carolina than do from North Carolina and Georgia combined. More people born in Mexico live in SC than do from Texas and Tennessee combined. In towns like Saluda and cities such as Greer the centuries old communities of Black and White South Carolinians have been displaced or are being displaced by large-scale Mexican and Guatemalan immigration. South Carolina has a severe housing shortage, road congestion issues, human trafficking problems, above average unemployment rates, and weak wage growth. The last thing it needs is mass immigration continuing to exacerbate these problems.

Project 2025 architect Paul Dans is refusing to accept AIPAC and foreign PAC money for his campaign against South Carolina's Lindsey Graham, whom he is challenging in the GOP Senate primary. Dans and Mark Lynch are currently projected to receive enough votes for the race to be forced into a runoff in South Carolina. Follow: @AFpost
