@DilksJay Don’t forget Beta. Reality is most professionals horribly underperform on risk adjusted basis. Berkshire has been no exception; takes higher risk.

I’m a Berkshire shareholder. Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger are all-time greats but they have tied the S&P 500 for 20 years to the day. I think people should be openminded that Greg Abel might be an upgrade in Management. I say that with no disrespect to Charlie and Warren but the scoreboard has slowed down scoring points. I sensed accountability of performance for the first time , in a longtime. Greg Abel might surprise people.
Say No To Trading@SayNoToTrading

Unless Abel re-invents the wheel, as I've said before, we should think of $BRK.B $BRK.A as merely a lower beta version of $SPY during selloffs. Milder drawdown for Berkshire, but inversely, milder upside during tech-fueled bull runs. Both exactly 694.6% return last 20 years.

@cartermcclung The bigger is better is 10O% fiction. It’s more the opposite as these firms routinely try to square peg round hole everything. Totally cool cutter and never thoughtful. Anything outside the box their brain explodes.

Another one bites the dust. Prospective client from a large, big box firm that supposedly has "more resources" to provide quality advice but somehow missed: - 7-figure Schedule C income sitting in a sole prop instead of an S-corp - No 401k or profit-sharing plan in place - Over $65k in capital gain distributions from mutual funds that charge nearly 1% just to underperform their benchmarks - A group health insurance plan subsidized by the business, locked into gold plans only - Wife retired but could be actively involved in the business - No formal buy/sell agreement in place And no clear plan looking forward to give them confidence in their decisions around money. Slowly but surely, cleaning up the messes that big firms leave behind. If your Schedule D shows capital gain distributions, chances are you don't have a financial planner. You have a high-fee investment manager. Message me privately if you'd like a second look at your taxes to see if any of this applies to you.

It’s really funny to watch the grift media go after Rhule now after Scott Frost had the worst tenure in their programs history and all they said was “best 3-9 team in the country” and “they are so close to breaking through”. Sipple is just another hack piling on now.

Call me a Pollyanna, but I’m riding with Jason Peter. His blunt takes on NU football aren’t negativity — they’re rooted in high standards and love for program. The message: stop the hype, embrace honesty, and chase the level it takes to truly win again. on3.com/teams/nebraska…

As a long-time Berkshire shareholder, I understand why we hold so much cash. Berkshire values the optionality of cash when the reward for taking risk is too low. Right now, the S&P 500 equity risk premium (ERP) is near historic lows — roughly 0.5% above 10-year Treasury yields. This razor-thin spread means investors are getting very little extra return for the much higher risk of stocks compared to “risk-free” government bonds Valuation doesn’t matters short term but it’s all that matters long term

@KCHusker24 Why in the world would anyone who likes winning, who wants to be relevant outside Nebraska, who wants to be developed as player, and wants to be coached by the best come to Nebraska at this point?

People losing it over Hudson committing to LSU… that was always the most likely outcome. His dad played there, that kind of legacy still matters to some guys. It’s no different than when Nebraska flipped Dylan or got the Steinkuhlers, Javin Wright, Quinn Clark, etc.

Every 3 or so years. Build the program up when a new coach takes over, then tear it down as soon as they can. Rinse, recycle, repeat. Local sports media thrives on feeding chaos. Don't you see the cycle? Please make them eat their words @CoachMattRhule GBR🌽

@RHULEROFNEB Analyze the 7 wins of Rhule…just start there. JP did come out publicly and criticize Frost. He also wasn’t happy privately but the leadership was drinking from Frost’s well privately.

Jason Peter never had a blunt take while his drunk buddy Frost ran this program into the literal shit hole of CFB. Your opinion is meaningless. Did frost chase the level it takes to win 3 games? Hilarious he is saying this now after back to back bowl games & 7 win seasons.

@jhallof15 @Rosiedidyaknow What’s insufferable is he was hired and then proceeded to get a $25mm extension based on selling the AD and the fan base his 💩 record would be worth a look of anything beyond a Div III coaching gig.

@JohnBishop71 @mitchsherman @joshtweeterson I just don't understand why we can't just wait until the end of Matt Rhule's tenure to judge his tenure. Let him do exactly what he wants and we can talk about it for a week when it's done.

Saw this in a tweet today. "The toxicity directed at Matt Rhule is worse than any Husker coach post-Tom Osborne." Vote on if you agree? If not, who had it worse from the fanbase/media? Comment below. #Huskers

I am sure many longtime Husker fans are asking if this can even be a serious take. Start by analyzing the the teams win/loss record that Nebraska has beaten. Have you dobe this simple analysis? 🧐 I think it boils down to the jornos every year trying pour thick Kool-Aid down our throat. When it doesn’t work out, it’s all the dirty laundry. Now analyze the definition of insanity.

Most jornos will jock sniff and be on the bandwagon until the coach is fired. Then the dirty laundry and the horrific coaching analysis, evaluation of personal choices, and things that should have been reported /analyzed in first place. Let’s start with the teams Matt Rhule has beaten if you want to evaluate results…beating the worst in college football to get to 6 wins is not standard I want to live with.

@MrNQDC Why do people pay $9 for a cup of coffee. The bean water and everything else that possibly goes into this is literally pennies. It’s the experience and expectation. Some create value and experience, others are pretending novices.

The nine most terrifying words in personal finance are: “I’m an AUM advisor and I’m here to help” The biggest threat to the AUM model is clients doing the math Why pay an uncapped 1% of your assets every year… For advice that doesn’t get harder just because your portfolio gets bigger? Your CPA doesn’t charge 1% of your income Your attorney doesn’t charge 1% of your house But in wealth management? The bigger your assets get… The bigger their raise Automatic Forever Yet most real planning value isn’t “managing money” It’s: ↳ Tax strategy ↳ Equity comp decisions ↳ Business exit planning ↳ Retirement distribution sequencing ↳ Estate coordination None of that scales with your portfolio size Yet the fee does Charlie Munger nailed it: “Show me the incentive and I’ll show you the outcome” The AUM model has an incentive problem Hourly and flat-fee advice is how clients stop overpaying

Matt Rhule has raised the floor. Yes, the floor was in Hell… but still! Back to back bowl games shouldn’t be taken for granted. The fan ire stems from the eye-test. Looking like a G5 by the likes of Minnesota, Iowa, and Utah. Programs that don’t invest in 🏈 at our level.

@MrNQDC @Zub79 Are you saying asset management is commoditized? If so I would completely disagree. Ask 5 managers what their mandate is and you will certainly get 5 different answers. Are they adding value, is different story.
