@GoodVibePolitik This is why it is extremely important to choose leadership wisely . All this incitement came from one individual , amplified by coordinated social media blasts from people within the same caucus . That individual will bring bigger problems down the road if not held accountable

Crazy that this was sent from NYCDSA’s treasurer to all NPC members after the vote yesterday. Openly threatening a split with a detailed breakdown of how it would go, a breakdown that I have to assume wasn’t made immediately after the vote. Seems like this is their actual plan.

@RevolutionBerri @aumyric @DSASocMaj I wouldn’t really say he fits the “credible chance of winning” part with his lack of poll numbers, especially given his net worth of ~$300 million & insider trading after the experience of Steyer in CA. But I’d be willing to consider him for sure.

In less than 24 hours, over 1,000 DSA members have signed on to tell the NPC that they want a voice in how and who DSA endorses for president in 2028. That is over 1,000 DSA members that are telling the NPC to let us vote. Sign on at bit.ly/letusvote2028
Socialist Majority Caucus@DSASocMaj

The NPC is taking a vote tomorrow determining your voice in our organization's role in the 2028 election. Just like 2020, you deserve the right to have a say in whether we endorse someone for President. Read this open letter to the NPC and sign on below! docs.google.com/document/d/1Pw…

My read as an ex-NYC steerer and a less involved GW member is that DSA winning congress seats outside of NYC has planted the seeds for NYC & national to rebuild a relationship - but that ratfucking an AOC endorsement is the surest way to risk a (soft) split.

@DSASocMaj Does SMC support conditional endorsements? Ex she has to endorse downballot DSA candidates and adopt a DSA platform?

@LeftyWinter There’s no better candidate than AOC. I understand the argument for preserving the NPC’s authority, my caucus supports it, but I can’t say I’m happy about it.

AOC can and will still win without national DSA. She'll just have NYC DSA who has stayed loyal have a say in her campaign if anything. Screw national DSA at this point.

@LeftyWinter We need our comrades in swing states to be organizing and motivating their chapters. Some would abstain if national didn’t respect their local bylaws. Ex: Should DSA organize for AOC if she won’t endorse the down ballot DSA candidates for Congress in their area?

@smfox Is purity politics accurate here? Plenty of people on the “left” would support a presidential run on conditions like endorsing the entire slate, identifying as a socialist, and running on a socialist platform. Can we just have the debate about the merits of AOC please?

Friendly reminder that there is no “DSA left vs DSA right”. Rather, there is a fight between people who believe in mass politics vs those who believe in purity politics. We will not build socialism without mass politics!

@LeftyWinter For instance, the NPC proposal is yelling about procedure, but everyone will get a vote. It’s a matter of who administers it, chapter or national. They should just be debating the conditions of an AOC run. Ex she needs to endorse the DSA slate and run on a DSA platform.

@LeftyWinter DSA runs socialists not democrats. No one is afraid of Zohran, people are probably concerned about entryism, which is a strategy that’s historically been used to destroy socialist movements. It is better to get into debates about issues than to react to strange caucus battles.

The DSA left is clearly afraid of the growing membership in part of because of Zohran Mamdani and NYC DSA. Most of us are not ultra leftists that recently joined, we joined because we want more DSA Democrats in Congress. DSA sabotaging itself as they have seen massive growth.

@KraushTakes OMFG stop. NPC wants an all member vote run by chapters within their own chapter rules. NYC DSA overturns or entirely rewrites things that have 90% member based support. Can we all just debate the merits of if AOC should win instead of running gaslight campaigns.

People try to paint NYC-DSA undemocratic all the time then think its fine when convention resolutions are directly disregarded by the NPC. Turns out 'undemocratic' just means decisions made that you dont like

@mancillabrando @KraushTakes We don’t either! It’s an advisory vote regardless of how it’s structured! The right is crying foul to whip for convention, where they are also saying the decision should be made. None of the caucuses want direct democracy, the right is just opaque about it.

I’m very confused by people saying advocating for all-membership votes is NGO-like. Do people think non-profits have internal direct democracy? They famously don’t. And I say that as someone often bargaining against non profit management.

@irockgnomes Hi. Convention actually voted down 1m1v unless in the case of a coalition endorsement! Also everyone will get to vote in their chapter, and chapter votes will be added together equally, no weighting to disenfranchise big chapters. Please stop spreading false info! Ty!

DSA’s national leadership (the NPC) just voted to overturn our convention & took away rank and file members’ right to vote in an all-member poll on whether nu-metal still sucks. The NPC is taking away members’ right to vote while NYC-DSA members send them ~$2M per year in dues.

@RefrmDemocracy Why would your engagement with mass membership be to tell them all to be single issue, uninformed voters as if your tendency is the only one who would endorse her. Please. Ffs. I hope everyone votes for independents.

The other side will whine that this message is insufficiently nuanced. We can deal with those hypertechnicalities in the Twitter replies. They don't change how we ought to engage with mass membership.

We really need to activate membership when it comes to voting for 2027 convention delegates, making it explicitly clear to members that their choice of delegates is (in effect) a choice about whether they want AOC to be president.

There are many caucuses, including left caucuses, that would support an endorsement. They just want her to endorse the full slate and the platform, and run as a socialist. Convention is also about internal democracy, which the right often skirts. I’d encourage critical thought.

OMFG caucuses are so annoying in their strange spins. All chapters are going to run votes and add the votes together including a process for at large members. They’re also going to have deliberative meetings.
