"South Africa" is a geographical location of a continent. "South" of "Africa". "The Union of South Africa" was the name that was given to us, by force, by the British Empire in 1910, after the Boer Wars. newsday.co.za/south-africa/2… The Cape was independent before all of this. The Cape will be independent again after it. There will be a lot to rebuild, fix and clean. But it will be a pleasure to do it. Lee Kuan Yew did it for Singapore. Javier Milei is busy doing it for Argentina. We will do it too. Our grandchildren will thank us. #SaveTheCape #VoteCAPEXIT2026

Has any country that adopted universal healthcare ever said, “You know what? This isn’t working. Let’s go back to paying insurance premiums and getting claims denied all the time.”

Yes, this is not how you convince the general public that price controls are bad. I was personally lost by the 5th-6th sentence, which requires high-level understanding of econ concepts that the average person simply doesn't have. But most importantly, the last paragraph shows how uncertain this approach leaves the opponent of price controls. "At best" and "I find it hard to believe" do not strike others with moral and epistemic confidence. Why not say that imposing the price below market price robs the sellers of their profits and imposing the price above market price robs the consumers of their savings? Think in principles, not in degrees/statistics.
