@Rhondamodar @JamesSurowiecki You do seem to be that Karen that think she knows everything when in fact she knows nothing. Always talking but saying nothing just like this whole interaction. Thanks for admitting you were terrible because you proved me correct. You did what you thought was your job not the job

Do people understand that grand juries hear only the prosecution's side of the case, and that the defense has no chance to present opposing arguments to try to convince the grand jury not to indict?

@nustud2007 @JamesSurowiecki You’re right. I was horrible at it. I was the only juror to ask questions, demand that the pertinent laws be explained and witness statements analyzed. Everyone else just wanted to indict and get out of there.

@Rhondamodar @JamesSurowiecki You must been horrible at it since you dont understand what goes on and when bias applies. You're implying there is bias that means one side has favorabilty over another. The point isnt for the defense to make a case why not to indict so there cant be bias as what is implied.

@nustud2007 @JamesSurowiecki I’m aware. I’ve done it. The prosecution is completely in control of the narrative and only a supper majority is required for an indictment. Bias is imbedded in the process. There’s a reason for the “ham sandwich” reference.

@Rhondamodar @JamesSurowiecki The point of the grand jury is to assess if they have enough to bring charges. Its not to try the trial in front of them. You seem to not understand the purpose. Neither does the OP. There is no bias because the intent is to assess what they present as sufficient to charge.

@nustud2007 @JamesSurowiecki If you think it’s insane, then you’ve never served on a grand jury. If they want to bring a charge they will only tell you what they want you to hear.

@JamesSurowiecki Lol the "prosecutions biased presentation of evidence" the point is to present evidence to see if there is enough to even charge someone. Your biased perspective on what a grand jury does is insane

If you were horrified last night watching our elected leaders run and scramble because of gun violence, just imagine how my daughter Jaime felt in school running from an active shooter before she was killed. Now, becomes a part of the solution and only vote for people determined to address gun violence in America.

It wasn’t staged. It was orchestrated by repeatedly and consistently using psychological manipulation and deception. Telling the collective we are living in the golden age while punching us in the gut-inevitably someone was gonna punch back. “Lunatics”.

@prairie_observe @fred_guttenberg Listen mother fucker. Your need to comment something so blatantly hurtful is only matched by your need to ignore the 4000 children killed due to gun violence annually. Fred doesn’t have the luxury of ignoring the reality of having a murdered child.

@fred_guttenberg You’re a sad old dad, Fred. Standing on the body of a dead child to score political points is about as low as you can go. Aren’t your 15 minutes of fame about up?

@haugejostein @Rich_Kurt316 “China's entire population has access to 4G or 5G. We're talking about a country of 1.4 billion people here.” Imagine a country with quadruple the population of the U.S. having 4G/5G only to have it heavily censored by the CCP 💀

The idea that the US innovates while China imitates is seriously flawed. In the past 10 years alone, China has produced a string of innovations in EVs, batteries, solar power, robotics, AI, high speed rail, telecoms, and biotech. The list goes on. But, most importantly, China innovates for the public whereas the US innovates for shareholders. China now has more than 50,000km of high speed rail in operation. That's more than the rest of the world combined. It connects hundreds of cities. A brand new EV can be purchased for as little as $6,000 in China. Electric mopeds can be as cheap as $300. China's entire population has access to 4G or 5G. We're talking about a country of 1.4 billion people here. Innovation isn't just about what gets invented. It's about who it's invented for, and in China, the answer is increasingly “everyone.”

If there is a state with greater scenic beauty than Oregon, I haven’t seen it. Mountains, high desert, Pacific, Hood, Columbia, Portland — it’s just spectacular. I don’t want to spoil anything for residents, but it’s a truly underrated state. I’m lucky to have married into it.
