FIRE has some *very* interesting conclusions about high-IVB fastballs. It definitely agrees that (generally speaking) more vert = better, and for sinkers (less vert = better, unless it's a rising sinker). Makes sense, but the next tweet is where it gets interesting.

Got further clarification from Trackman: existing stadium units already support ABS, the tech is proven in pro leagues, and dynamic strike zones could go live this fall. The current static zone was a deliberate choice to honor the NCAA Strike Zone Initiative.

However, was just told that Trackman could be experimenting with their own adjustable strikezone. Would be massive as it felt as though this was years away with Trackman's previous stagnant zone.

The Cardinals just drafted Cal Randall in the 5th round. Randall has the best fastball in the draft. It's an alien pitch at 97 MPH (T100.7) with an outlier -4° VAA, registering a 34.9% whiff rate this year.

Mason Miller's four-seam graded out at a 163 proPitching+ last night, the best four-seamer thrown in any bullpen. 102.1 mph, two whiffs on ten pitches, and a clean inning. Luke Weaver's heater checked in at 161 and also kept a zero with two punchies.

Willie Bloomquist will be hiring Lipscomb Assistant Coach Johnny Cardenas to join the @ASU_Baseball staff per multiple sources. He is expected to help with the recruiting side of things and the offense.
He joins the Sun Devils after two years at Lipscomb and was the former head coach at SFA where he got 293 wins there.

@ljr_baseball Any plans on making it available to teams? Could be useful for hitters/pitchers to plan for each other.
Obviously heat maps and usage trees exist already, but this tool could definitely help visualization

I've made some progress on the hitting side of the simulator. It is very bad right now, but I feel like it is a good starting point.
