agree Regardless of the legality of our taking VZ oil (questionable at best), NO ONE in VZ can possibly be anything but really PO'd by our doing it. They will not get any happier as this goes on. I suspect a big part of Trump's real motive here is his belief that Maduro can (& will, thru plea bargain) provide the evidence he needs to prove the 20 election fraud he keeps claiming is true (remember, Chavez-designed voting machines). But Maduro cannot & will not do that (even if he wanted to lie, he'd have to go thru his own lawyers' ethical obligations & trial court scrutiny to do so). Once Trump realizes this, he'll lose whatever interest he has here (except taking that free oil). VZ people will continue to suffer under same corrupt regime, which will just keep paying off Trump so he won't interfere in what it does.

I hate to be that guy, but under what actual legal authority can Trump allocate money to the TSA that has not been specifically appropriated by Congress? Is it not the same problem as Biden's attempt to cancel student loans?

@highbrow_nobrow If she is too dumb to answer a simple question "Who won the 2020 presidential election?", then we have to question if she has the smarts to work for the federal government.

Lots of conservatives, lots of otherwise-sane people, are hurting themselves, long-term, for their silence on Trump's madness. They will wear it, long after he is gone.

I might lose followers for this, but it needs to be said: Trump is BY FAR the worst president in American history. He's a pedophile, a con artist, and a war criminal. May he burn in hell.

The 22nd Amendment was ratified in 1951 as a direct response to FDR’s four terms. It was passed by a Republican-controlled Congress. It was not designed to be optional. Graham’s spokesperson said he misspoke. That is the right call — Trump is constitutionally barred from a third term and the courts would enforce that. But the ambient vocabulary of this movement — “irreplaceable,” “do everything we can,” “we’ll never get another” — creates a frame that serves the Third Term Project whether or not anyone uses the words directly. What actually changes behavior in November isn’t whether Trump can legally run in 2028. It’s whether the people who cheered Graham today treat the midterms as a vote for Trump’s continued hold on power — which is exactly what the Republican leadership at CPAC is asking them to do. Graham misspoke on the constitutional mechanics. He described the political psychology precisely.

Franklin Graham at CPAC: I love Donald Trump. We'll never get another president like Donald Trump. That is why it's important we do everything we can to try to get him re-elected.

I tend to agree. But if we have to appeal to the 'spirit' of the applicable law, it's because the plain language leads to the opposite conclusion. It seems authors of 22A didn't think this thru too well. Hopefully, SCOTUS won't have to address the issue; Rs will be taking a big chance if they try to pull off something like this ...

@RichardClip Not frivolous but I have to believe that a Supreme Court would hold this back door method of ‘election’ to be in violation of the spirit of the Constitution as amended. Even THIS Trumpy Supreme Court.
