Regulatory barriers, Eco and NIMBY groups, astronomical costs,kill it. As you note, biz case may be weak.

Inexplicably, we made it the most expensive, contentious, and risky.
The result? We’re getting a private proponent-led pipeline but it’s sending more barrels to the USA.

UBC hired NDP Leader Avi Lewis and his wife Naomi Klein as professors even though neither has a master’s or PhD. Lewis was paid $92,000 in 2024-2025. He taught one course. Klein was paid $277,000. She taught a graduate seminar & co-taught a second-year course.

Canada's Manufacturing Sector is in free fall. But on April 1st, the Government raised the industrial carbon tax to $110 per tonne, 16% increase. THIS IS INSANE! Higher industrial carbon taxes raise production costs, which are ultimately passed on to Canadians through higher prices and reduced investment.
