We were sold on the freedom to be creative on the web and the ability to communicate with audiences at scale. We were given the exploitation of neurochemistry through machine learning to increase watch time on platform for more ad impressions. Incentive realignment is how we win

Great stuff. Every year @MatBest11x does an amazing job setting the tone going into Memorial Day weekend. These are the things that matter,

This isn’t a partisan issue. It’s all the stakeholders and investors of surveillance tech saying they are our saviors and al the average people in the communities saying… ummm… no, we don’t trust the government with that type of control and we sure as hell don’t trust a a private company with a shitty track record

@JackCraver The tech bros have ruined Austin. The hippies had laid the foundation for why "everyone" still wants to move to Austin. Down with Big Tech Brother.

The sheer amount of Flock stake holders and investors all quoting and posting the same stuff in a major media effort this week feels off from how normal people are responding to a surveillance state. $100 says they are planning to file for IPO soon.

My social feed seems to be 2 types of accounts: Normal people opposed to mass surveillance and then investors/employees in the surveillance economy... @richardryan/note/p-198732109" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">substack.com/@richardryan/n…

Flock investors are trying to make this issue partisan now saying a progressive group of radicals are trying to make our cities more unsafe. We need to ensure we educate people on the dangers these systems represent to American’s civil liberties. The firearms community is all too familiar with “mission creep”. Concede one aspect of a constitutional right and you will see the gradual erosion until it no longer poses a threat or check to power.

Flock wouldn't have prevented any crime here but good job trying not waste a good tragedy to monetize your shitty growth at all costs company. If people choose privacy or accountability over unsecured 3rd party surveillance state it must be a targeted misinformation campaign.
Rahul Sidhu@rahul

Last year, the city of Austin turned off their Flock cameras as the result of a targeted misinformation campaign. This weekend, for nearly 24 hours, three suspects drove around Austin in stolen vehicles, undetected, conducting a shooting spree at 12 separate locations. They shot multiple people, houses, apartment buildings, businesses, and fire stations. They committed multiple robberies and car thefts during the spree. Despite a full manhunt involving 200 officers, with helicopter and K9 support, they weren't able to locate the suspects, and the spree continued. Luckily, the suspects drove into the Flock-supported city of Manor, TX. Manor is a small city with ~20k residents, and a fraction of Austin's budget. What they do have is modern technology and the ability not to fall victim to misinformation campaigns. After the suspects drove into Manor to continue their shooting spree, Manor PD located them almost immediately. The residents of Manor stayed safe. This is a tale of two cities. I love Austin. I have plenty of friends who live there. I myself almost moved there years ago. I'm glad that the shooting spree is over, but I just wish it never happened.

I paid out $10k to clippers in a month as a trial run to see how different companies operate. Clipping seems scammy at best, fraudulent at worst. Accounts with only a couple posts get millions of views then delete posts after 30 days. What companies would you suggest checking out to change my mind?

🚨BREAKING!🚨 does muting or blocking everyone who posts with “breaking” or “instead of Netflix this evening” make your timeline any less filled with slop? Trying to figure out how to clean up my feed 🤣

Am I the only one who gets frustrated with how often I hear people say “what do I mean by that?”. How about you just dumb it down for knuckle draggers like myself to begin with please.

Just got off the phone with a friend in San Francisco They are SCARED. They never thought vibe coded apps would kill their lifestyle. a lot of these guys have 3-5 full time jobs as full-stack devs and are being laid off by the thousands to be replaced by a kid with Claude and a dream.

@GoingParabolic So many crypto influencers are posers and grifters. It sucks that the masses give these people their attention which validates their existence even though they probably never had a meaningful investment in the space

These Spaces hosts rekt you more than you know. They think they are taking a lap on bitcoin'rs by saying I told you it would go back to the 80's. "I told you i would be able to buy bitcoin cheaper." What they won't tell you. They are totally rekt and have no money whatsoever to buy any bitcoin at 87k. Every token they hold is down 50-90% or more. So where are the OUTPERFORM BITCOIN BRO's AT?

@brian_armstrong Coinbase One Credit Card is an exciting product but still lacking features that make it a competitive credit card solution for me: 1) First and foremost not having a separate login for your credit card which is tied to your CB account is a massive security risk if you maintain any meaningful balance 2) CB support as customer service for your credit card and not Amex is beyond frustrating. I've had some charges flagged as fraud and couldn't talk to anyone to confirm validity. The resolution was to just use a different card. 3) Not having Amex or card direct support means there is also nobody to talk to about limits. Since CB One is not a charge card I have to make multiple payments a week to clear balance vs someone being able to look at CB balance or income to increase credit line to a more realistic level for my spending or income. 4) Not having 3rd party API access to transactions for bookkeeping or statements. Currently I would have to give my CB account credentials and login to a bookkeeper or accountant to classify and categorize transactions. Again, a massive security risk.
