After 14 years in opposition, Labour’s plan for government was simple – “Blame the Tories”. 100 days in, it’s clear that plan is not working. Our country is not unique in the problems it faces. But Labour is using the same broken system and will fail. More in my Oped today 👇 telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/…

⚠️ Extreme wet weather means England’s harvest is the second worst on record. The £50m Farming Recovery Fund expansion - that I announced in May - can’t be delayed further. 🥀 Farmers can’t afford to wait whilst Labour ministers sit on their hands. fwi.co.uk/arable/harvest…

@RobertJenrick Are you the one that broke lockdown rules and helped your mates get planning permission while avoiding paying millions in tax?

Our membership of the ECHR means that dangerous foreign criminals and terrorists will continue to remain in our country, and their removal will be blocked. Our borders will not be secure unless we leave the ECHR.

I think it is “unsettling” that the PM should remove the first female PM from No 10. He cannot deny her role in our nation - the most significant PM after Churchill. Not a good start from Labour, looks and feels vindictive and petty. telegraph.co.uk/politics/2024/…

I wonder why Starmer, who owns land worth over ten million pounds and a house worth over a million doesn't want to tax the rich.🤔

@afneil Weren't you once meant to be a journalist, national debt doubled before the pandemic started, easy to look up and fact check you know

Andrew Neil@afneil·
The national debt rose during the pandemic because of all the steps government taken to protect incomes, such as the furlough scheme. Labour urged it to do more for longer. It also rose because of the cap on electricity bills after the invasion of Ukraine. Labour urged it to do more for longer. If the government had followed Labour’s urging the national debt would be even bigger. And I think you misplaced a decimal point on your last point. Let me help you. Debt was 65% GDP in 2010. It’s now almost 100%, largely for the reasons outlined above and (like the rest of Europe) slow growth.
AgendaForReform@AgendaForReform

@afneil Oh, so this is good is it……? 2023 Government debt £2,720.8 billion, or 101.3% of GDP. The deficit was £40.8 billion, or 6.0% of GDP
