@MaxTGoodman That's the professional answer. It's a shame he has to fall on his sword though. But, hey , Bo Bichette has .500 OPS and is playing gold glove third base, so I guess it's worth it.

This was the location on Luke Weaver's 2-1 changeup to Gabriel Moreno (the game-tying double that Brett Baty couldn't get to in the 7th).
Weaver was asked if he executed that pitch the way he wanted to postgame:
"No, not necessarily. There was some indecision on what I wanted to do there. Pitch clock kind of got involved there. And it was just a bit of a backed up moment and just didn't quite get to the right end of what I thought I needed to do. And he just did a good job of staying on the pitch. Just wrong side of it."

English

@MFliegelman I don't love Baty in RF either, but that is a very after-the-fact assessment. You usually don't make defensive replacements in the 7th inning of a 1-run game.
English

@Puppieslover Fun...until you stop giving him treats and then he gets really angry.
English

@AbbeyMastracco He drifted back instead of running hard to the wall. It would have been a very good catch, but to say he "had no play" is insulting to someone watching the game.
English

@TheMetsX Stearns wants to prove he's smarter than everyone more than he wants to win a title.
English

@SNY_Mets @CarShield Why are the #Mets using their catcher as a DH? If he needs to come in to catch, they lose the DH. Why is Mauricio here?

@JacobBSpeaks This is meaningless to measure parity. Mostly the same teams are competitive and make the playoffs each year for long periods. That trend will worsen if nothing changes.
English

@TheSweatyRay @AnthonyRieber @StevenACohen2 @EvanRobertsWFAN The Mets could have simply made free tixx available in person if they wanted to avoid this. Obviously some people would reserve and then not show up, since you had to reserve them immediately.
English

@RickJBrody @AnthonyRieber @StevenACohen2 @EvanRobertsWFAN People claimed tickets & then didn’t use the tickets, thus blocking people who may have gone. The temperature is irrelevant in the equation, it was KNOWN thats was going to be “frigid” which is why the game was moved up & tickets were made free. POS move to claim & not show up.
English

Mets owner @StevenACohen2 and WFAN host @EvanRobertsWFAN seem not thrilled about 58% free ticket giveaway no-show rate. Are they right?

@MichaelaB_22 I think the catcher challenged. Regardless, it could still happen accidentally. Just another reason so stop the insanity and go full ABS.
English

@Holden2283 @CredibleGadfly @UmpireAuditor After debating this the past 2 weeks, apparently some people want the "theater" of overturned calls, the "human elememt" or are massive fans of "framing!" It's insane!
English

@CredibleGadfly @UmpireAuditor How can an umpire union have power to change the rules of the game? People pay to see the players play not the umps. The people want accuracy and a level playing field.
English

@UmpireAuditor I will never understand why anyone is not in favor of full ABS...the umpires themselves most of all. These are impossible to call accurately with the human eye.
English

@RebelsAnonymous @Feinsand Soler was the instigator. The pitch was way up and in, but wasn't even going to hit him. Clemens drilled Piazza square in the head and got nothing.
English

@Feinsand Soler should be suspended for 20 games. The pitch wasn't even that close.
English

@WorldWideWob Wouldn't it have just been easier to instruct his players not to score as much, or draw up bad plays?
Also, the @NBA could eliminate all of this by just going back to the original draft lottery, all teams equally weighted.

The two sets of free throws shown were the result of:
1) Christie wanting to stop play so he could call his use-it-or-lose-it timeout before time dropped below 3 mins.
2) Cardwell fouling Seth during a live rebound, and the Warriors being in the bonus.
McDermott, the same guy who gave the foul after being instructed, made a 3 the very next possession from a set play Christie drew up.
Hater Report@HaterReport
We have NEVER seen this level of tanking bruh Doug Christie literally instructed his players on the Kings TO FOUL SETH CURRY ON PURPOSE while up 101-100 in the 4th quarter INSANE 😭💀
English

@BrickCenter_ A. cut 15 games off the regular season
B. go back to a random luck lottery for the draft.
A won't happen for obvious reasons
English

@BrickCenter_ Couldn't they just have scored fewer points if their only goal was to lose?
