@markmanson “Who we are is how we’re broken.” -William Storr, “The Science of Storytelling” Our challenges definitely shape us by altering the lens we’re using to look at the world. I believe it’s how we help and connect with people. I struggle so that I can help you when it’s your turn.

@monicalimco I bought a used Herman Miller, pretty good price but still expensive. By the time I'd gone through 3 chairs I realized going "cheap" was going to get expensive quick! Best decision I've made for my back. But wish I'd found one with a head rest!

In the spirit of living well, I want to invest in a good chair. Is there a place where you can go and try all the best chairs, learn about them before you decide? From $1700 Herman Millers to $300 Branch chairs?

Honest question: How do people use discord? I’m in ~10 servers and the noise in the app is just outrageous. Every time I open this thing, notifications start popping, things moving, etc. It’s UX hell. And keeping up with stuff is such a pain. Am I getting old or something?

The API pricing changes I kind of understood. The bot-fighting measures, too. And even pay-to-play verification made sense to me. But I am struggling extremely with the name change and the eradication of the concept of a tweet — something that even my grandma understood.

@Tyler_Palmer9 @sabakarimm Very good way of describing this. My current "monotrope" is looking at how Morningstar justifies "moat" in their stock analysis and trying to figure out how to quantify it. I haven't checked out your stuff yet - do you have a deeper dive?

@sabakarimm For some reason in software we think that this is abnormal when in reality every industry has a copy cat if someone who already built a successful model. Lawn Care CPA Firm Ticket Clinics Fast Casual Chains Agencies It’s why have been diving into MOATs. Shared this today -

Lately, I've been delving deep into the concept of product and business moats. While being the first to market or having cutting-edge technology are two examples, they are not the only types of moats. Check out this great visual of 11 different moats.

Microsoft launching Loop that looks incredibly inspired by Notion, reminds me that big companies copy ideas shamelessly. When did this first start and become “OK”?

A big piece of Harm Reduction programs is the connection you make with the community there. It’s a relief to be treated with dignity for a brief moment.

@monicalimco @JosephKlenk This is how I use it too - brainstorming and understanding deep technical context. It’s my audible processing partner. I will ask it to tell me stories sometimes but they’re not for me to post just to learn

@JosephKlenk I have low expectations. I usually use it for brainstorming and translations and chatgpt is pretty good for this use. And it is better than nothing. What do you use it for?

Whenever I am co-creating with ChatGPT, I notice that I usually end up liking the original version the most. You ask it to make revisions adding XYZ, but it ends up being a little too much. Does this happen to you? Maybe the initial reaction is the best. For us, and AI.

@monicalimco I start with a general description and then ask it to ask me questions to get started. I specify open or closed ended questions and how many depending on time. It’s typically a full on conversation before anything is even started. By the time I get to the answer it’s pretty close

@matttillotson What’s your suggested weekly schedule for someone of similar age starting back at it after a year hiatus? 3 days 30 mins minimum? I walk 2 miles 5 days a week but I’m ready to get back to WORK

@FreelanceHippie Same experience when I was consulting. I wonder if the $500 client has more to lose? Or maybe they're spending their own money vs. spending company money? Small business thinking vs. large business thinking?

$500 Client: Hi can you add this _____ & that ______ & can you finish the project up within the next week? Also can we schedule 10 more meaningless Zoom calls? $5000 Client: Hey sorry for the late response, I was on a 5 day rafting trip, did you get the 2nd payment?

I deleted this tweet because some folks translating from the original ancient Greek (not the 1840's translation I was using) have chimed in to say that actually the original text likely indicates that you'd get free education if you were his buddy but otherwise you'd get free education BUT THEN BECOME AN INDENTURED SERVANT! So, like, the way we do it now is better.

@RickRollins20 @matttillotson @brady_h It's the 'relative' VO2Max they give you, that is, relative to weight (kg's), so the easiest way to raise it is to lose kg's (if you have some to lose). 4000 ml/min / 80kg = 50 ml/min/kg 4000 ml/min / 75kg = 53.33 ml/min/kg 4000 ml/min /70kg = 57.14 ml/min/kg
