UPDATE: "I keep thinking 'just one more putt,' but it's like a drug!" "That's the coolest feature." "I can't stop using it now!" We've never gotten feedback like this before from our testers, and so we're super excited to announce that this feature is now available for all Right Edge Putt Tracker users in the latest update to our simulation software. And still no subscription required!

"Driving's for show, putting's for dough." With modern analytics, we can tell this might not be as simple/true as we once thought. However, what is still true is, for almost any amateur golfer, putting is your easiest path to lower scores. Easiest path, meaning highest ratio for: Improvement/(Time + Money Investment) So why not do it? • One or two putting lessons. • Follow Ross (👇) on X. • Get a Right Edge Putt Tracker to practice/dial-in at home what you learn from the lesson(s) and/or Ross on X. That's it! With those three things, it's almost impossible to not only experience significantly lower scores, but experience them relatively quickly.

It could easily be assumed that a putting coach in 2026 using data, etc would be obsessed with numbers and technique. Genuinely that’s not the case for me or many other putting coaches from what I can gather when they use social media, go on podcasts, etc. One of the best things about putting is you don’t need a “perfect stroke”, whatever that is, to putt well. I like to take golfers from the extremes of say a ton of acceleration, really poor aim and face control. But we never ever need to get it perfect. Having a “good” technique then being highly skilled is the way. My stroke has never looked perfect according to any tech I’ve been on. And I don’t try to get numbers down to zero or whatever. A little work on solid fundamentals then tons of work on the skills of reading greens, lag putting, holing putts is key.

Yeah this "new" system doesn't make sense to me. "...generate a raw ranking of the difficulty of each hole relative to par." Relative to par? Par is irrelevant to scoring (the whole point of the handicap system), so why would par be a consideration at all for this exercise?

Would love to hear from some folks who have gone through this new allocation. Today has sparked so many questions. 😄 Is it fair to assume that most courses have not adopted this new method? Do most committees even know about this? Could the USGA be any worse at educating the golfing public?

This 👇…isn’t true anymore. 🤦‍♂️ My home club just changed all of their stroke hole allocations a few years ago. Apparently, the USGA must have switched the policy just months after we completed the process. I’ll be calling my PGA Pro to tell him we need new scorecards printed.

This is your gentle reminder that the #1 handicap hole is not a difficulty ranking.

@MyGolfSpy I've given serious consideration to this. The problem is, these places typically don't have power available to those who rent the units.

@zagnut Haha... I cracked a rib a few years back before our buddies golf trip to Arizona. Thought I was going to pass out a few times after hitting my drive, but a WD never crossed my mind.

It's becoming abundantly clear that Scottie has been busy lately, and he needs to start using that time between his work calls to roll a few more putts.

@MyGolfSpy False. (pretty sure that post was just rage bait) The percentage of (paid for) golf instruction that isn't helpful is likely higher than we would like to believe, but it isn't anywhere remotely close to 90%.

If there were no history of a tree being there, I would absolutely 100% agree. But because there is, my thoughts are more nuanced. The old tree was more of a mental obstacle than a physical one. I don't think the new tree should have been made to be *more* of a physical obstacle than the original, and it clearly is, so that does lessen my (meaningless) opinion of it a bit. But in general, because of history, I don't have an issue with them putting a tree there that is "in play."

@KVanValkenburg There’s lots of holes where trees don’t let you hit it the you’d like to. Why is this different? A player isn’t entitled to launching a driver as they please.

@rossmacleodputt Nope, if you're on a golf hole where you tee it up on a tee box and from there you hit it into the hole in one shot, it's a hole-in-one.

When I was younger, I felt like I knew everything, and I was irrationally confident in what I felt I knew. The older I get, the only thing I know for sure is that a hole-in-one on a short course still counts!

@TourSwingsTommy I have a 5yo Skytrak now sitting in its box because I no longer have the space where I once used it (long story). Miss having it so much I'm going to build an outdoor setup for it this spring. It's just so nice being able to get some extra practice in at home.

@RightEdgeGolf I’m glad you liked it! I think if used properly they can be extremely valuable. Been looking at some budget options for launch monitors. May need to get in on the action.

Marshall Falk had the best all-around swing IMO. Ed Reed's looked pretty good too (though he didn't like his result - think he let the club head get a bit ahead and maybe pulled it). Ronde Barber and Drew Brees both had solid swings but brought their clubs back a bit too inside (actually most of these guys did that). Just saw Brady Quinn at the end - His swing might be the best of the bunch.

Is it time we start worrying about Scottie Scheffler? Hasn’t won in 3 events. 3! He’s barely top 20 this week at the half way point He’s been very angry. If he goes another week without a win, may be time for some swing tips from social media.

"If you want your leave at the hole/cup" is the way I've distinguished what this graphic is referring to the "lag putt" line, when helping a playing partner with their line. That said, it's usually 5'-10' putts where I'll do that, as with putts much longer than that, you should probably always be thinking "leave at the hole/cup."

Brilliant graphic on the broadcast this morning. Caddies - do you give spots, or a firm/soft range? Every read is a spectrum. Every putt is a marriage.

@engineeringolf Curious... Do you ever actually hit a full 60? I feel like I rarely (though I will) hit a full 56, and I don't think I've ever hit my 60 full.
