Across the Great Lakes region, many vulnerable and marginalized communities still face barriers to justice, legal protection, and effective representation. Strengthening young lawyers’ advocacy skills is key to addressing these challenges.

The future of human rights protection depends on empowered young legal professionals. Through this Regional Young Lawyers Workshop, HRFRA continues investing in the next generation of advocates committed to justice, dignity, and accountability.

Although Rwanda does not explicitly criminalize homosexuality, the cultural environment still presents significant challenges for the LGBTQI+ community. Societal discrimination, stigma, and targeted violence contribute to the difficulties faced by all LGBTQI+ individuals.
