We're working with @PhiladelphiaGov and @PennDOTNews to install red-painted bus-only lanes on three critical transit corridors in Center City and South Philadelphia in November: Chestnut St between Broad St and 21st St Walnut St between Broad St and 19th St Oregon Av between 5th St and Front St The Oregon Av phase of the project is scheduled to be completed by Friday, November 7 (weather permitting). Painting bus lanes red helps to improve bus service/speed, reduces improper use of the bus-only lane and illegal double-parking, and ensures better boarding access especially for seniors and riders with disabilities. A typical bus rider spends 31 additional hours on the bus every year because of Center City congestion and the slower buses cost SEPTA an additional $15 million in operating costs every year. Illegally parked and double-parked vehicles also throw buses off schedule. Prioritizing transit can reduce traffic congestion and improve travel times so everyone can access everything the city has to offer. #ISEPTAPHILLY #HowWeRoll

there’s no reason why south philly shopping plazas shouldn’t have a single bike rack (i’m looking at you whitman plaza, wing phat plaza, and new world plaza) I counted 9! bikes locked to various sign posts in whitman plaza. There is clearly a need for bike racks!
