Do you have an alternative career plan in case you decide to quit academia? In my opinion it's helpful to think of options, just in case. It's too stressful to think everything depends on your next grant. What's your plan B (or just ideas for another job)?

Ph.D. shouldn't be about publishing in high-impact journals but mastering skills to solve problems, mentoring, leadership and coming-up with new ideas.
