I used to be a fan of the, “Just introduce people to Jesus through extravagant worship and allow Jesus to change their hearts” model of ministry until I saw the fruit of that with the way evangelicals overwhelmingly voted in the US 2016 and 2020 elections - in ways that were harmful to their marginalized neighbours. Today, I’m convinced that discipleship requires explicitly catechizing Christians to think and act on how to love our neighbours the way Jesus commands us to - including with our votes.
