Marae have operated as important community hubs for assistance in crises. That is why many of them receive funding from the govt. The attitude below is very worrying. Any community centre or marae that receives funding to help in emergencies should not be able to turn away any NZer, especially not based on who they vote for. Never mind it is a breach of Human Rights Act & Bill of Rights Act.
@LindelB60@TrudiNewZealand I’ve Never seen that book ever - and I’m an avid buyer of books for my nieces and nephews. Which children are being indoctrinated?
@TrudiNewZealand It’s certainly not helped that children with maori ancestry are being indoctrinated ie book aimed at 6-11 year olds Paku Manu Ariki Whakatakapokai - ‘my dad is maori, like me. I feel sorry for my mum, she’s only pakeha.’ !!!
@NMowbray23 Have a look at all of the comments to me from people supporting you and your position @NMowbray23 - I’ve been called a freeloader, my people criticised and that we have come from living in huts, and my career criticised - absolute rubbish!
@NMowbray23 Do some proper research. The port and the surrounding industry have absolutely negatively impacted Māori in that area in Tauranga. It’s not extortion at all.
@AuntyHeihei Pretty sure leaders from the North like Hone Harawira, Pita Tipene, Wassie, Peeni etc questioned the govt without being influenced by Debbie and Rāwiri lol. They’ve been challenging the establishment for decades now.
It's taken me some time to digest what happened on Waitangi day but ultimately I'm disgusted that morons have been emboldened by David and Debbie to be so absolutely disrespectful to not only our government but to our Māori politicians who come from the North. Debbie and David need to get back down the line.
Winston and co need to not go back to Waitangi next year and create a NZ day somewhere like Mission bay where they can go cook some sausages and just chill with normal people instead of trying to cater to fuckwits who are just going to be disrespectful...
Like I said to my mother the other day, you follow tikanga and if you don't like something a speaker is saying, mutter that shit under your breath but don't ever talk over the top of them.....
@RedneckKiwi@RachealMcGonig1 Ok so the tax thing is for everyone because - you can just register as a charitable trust. What’s your council? I’m keen to not pay rates so I’ll ask mine. Byt again anyone could do it because you said you don’t have to even prove you’re Māori?
I am tired of all this racial separatism in NZ.
We are one people, all equal. New Zealanders.
The Maori people were the indigenous people of NZ but now the people of NZ is made up of people with ancestry to all around the World.
The Maori people of NZ have the same rights and privileges as every other NZer. Sometimes actually more. There are too many respected Maori to name, that show over the years, Maori have been able to succeed and advance, equally, as all others have.
It is time Maori stopped seeking special advantage/rights over others. It is time Maori started to address there own issues as to why some Maori cant advance and have such poor statistics.
Stop blaming their obesity on the Gvt and stop your own people eating takeaways, soft drinks and not exercising; Stop blaming the Gvt for poor medical outcomes; Stop blaming the Gvt for Maori not being spoken and recognise it was because of Kaumatua petitioning Parliament for it; Stop blaming the Gvt for poor education when Maori parents do nothing to stop their children's truancy; Stop blaming the Gvt for financial hardship when Iwi have the money.
Maori have the ability to improve their own outcomes if they started to look fairly at the causes and accepted responsibility. They have numerous examples amongst their own people that show they can achieve.
It is time Maori accepted they are equal NZers of Maori and other ancestry.
We are all NZers.
Stop separatism.
Stop dividing us.
@roflcrabs It gets pathetic doesn’t it… what you do is reply with “Ka rite ahau ki te hiakai”
“I’m feeling hungover” see how uncomfortable they get when they don’t know what it means.
The mostly WWW (woke white wankers) who are crying and having a moan about Te Reo .. 97% of them can’t speak it. If they think it’s so important they would have gone and learnt it on their own accord, which is fine, like members of my own family have.
I am Maori, and have siblings who are fluent and one has studied Māori language at a doctorate level. Neither of my siblings has an issue with this Govts stance on removing tokenism.
The Māori activists “Kohunga” generation love the white guilt complex and it’s ability to turn people into complete morons.
But the WWW’s didn’t learn it of course, they just liked relying on the state to think for them, and also to virtue signal on their behalf with some token pigeon Māori-fied English terms.
That’s how hypocritical, lazy and useless these prize Ernie’s are - they can’t stand the thought of having to virtue signal themselves and wanted it contracted out to the state.
No wonder these mungbeans who have no independent thought ability crave for a society where everything is either mandatory or prohibited.
@shouldveknown11@MaoriNomad@Strange_G Iwi helped enough - they gave land that’s worth millions of dollars. And when you say iwi should help - who are you talking about?
I went to prize giving of Kings school today. It was held at a cathedral. The amount of excellence and progress, highest achievements, best in everything from literally all races got me really emotional. Kids on scholarship going on to college with further scholarships etc. so much talent amongst our young people yet some end up like baby Ruthless Empire. We MUST address that. Māori kids in this school are all high achievers, they earn so many awards, trophies etc. In this school race isn’t a factor. I really have a dream of a day when all our kids get to be celebrated and attended to, like these kids. The children are innocent, no one is born criminal. It’s the parents who need to learn and understand humanity and responsibility first, regardless of money. It’s a feeling they must be awaken to and booze and drugs blocks it. We need to make sure the kids of our nation get equal opportunities. 🩵
@shouldveknown11@Strange_G Iwi didn’t shut those schools down - Govt and the Anglican Church did. Iwi in fact gifted the land in Parnell and Bombay to the Anglican Church to set up those schools. So don’t blame iwi.
@AirNZMedia Tried DM’ing @AirNZMedia but can’t because I’m not verified and I don’t want to spend $399 per year to get a blue tick. Also don’t want to waste more money trying to communicate with you guys 😳
@AirNZMedia got downgraded on an upcoming trip to Fiji. Our group of around 16 had been booked since Feb - get told Saturday that we are downgraded to economy for travel this Wed. Travel Agent try and sort but AIR NZ agent team not on till Monday - so basically a shit storm.
@AirNZMedia get your shit together! We booked premium and business for our elderly and young babies to have a more comfortable flight - we have always backed your airline but don’t think that will be happening anymore. Shit service - shit airline.
@AirNZMedia Get told refund might happen but defs won’t be received before our flight, so we are left around $6k out of pocket. Ask for Koru lounge passes, get told they will issue it but at our own risk. Ask for seats up front an told our group is now split up with some in row25
@JoeleneHohapata@EerjkMcRae Well, if the handouts had made a difference by now to the community then it would’ve been worth it. It’s not going to work only if a few elite benefit from it. There has to be a better way.
A message from the Dean:
Today we awarded a posthumous Bachelor of Laws degree to Farzana Yaqubi, our student who was murdered in December, her life tragically cut short by an entitled man not worthy of mention.
