Lots of Lots

@RipkenT

Huge baseball and Red Sox fan. Been collecting cards off and on since the early 70's and enjoy it just as much today as I did back then.

@EdHand89 If I had $3 mil, I would give to my parents if needed. There would never be a scenario where stealing would be a thought.

Would you sue your parents if they stole $3 million dollars from you?

@ForsterRon @EdHand89 My reasoning is the Sox need a good lefty reliever. I think Tolle could be great in that role and can help win some games. His long term value is as a starter and he can return to that role next season. If the Sox can get a good lefty, then I agree that AAA would be good.

@RipkenT @EdHand89 Makes no sense to put him in the pen. He'll get way more innings to work on his secondaries in Woo.

Red Sox win their Grapefruit League opener 7-2. Here are some observations/thoughts I wrote down throughout the game. -Payton Tolle's breaking stuff needs more work, as expected. Cutter looked like his best non-fastball currently. Funny enough, the homer he gave up was off a fastball. There's going to be people who are mad when he starts the season in Triple-A, but it's 100% where he needs to be for now. -Ryan Watson looks good; could see him being a solid middle relief option. Definitely seems like a Breslow type. -Andruw Monasterio is currently my prediction to take Romy's spot on the roster. Solid RH bat. Think people are going to like him quickly. -Seth Martinez and Vinny Nottoli are depth incarnate. -I do not care about anyone's defense in February. -Braidan Ward is the sort of high-energy utility player Swiss Army knife that makes for an awesome bench player. Was the return in the Brennan Bernardino trade. Great piece to have tucked away in Worcester. Real, real high on him. -Not crazy about Brendan Rodgers so far. Might be in part because he's wearing number 5. Don't usually care about jersey number, but Nomar he is not. -I don't think Wong will get DFA'd (catching depth doesn't exactly grow on trees), but I wouldn't be shocked to see Matt Thaiss get some run as the backup catcher. -I'll be a little surprised if Mickey Gasper is still in the organization on Opening Day, completely shocked if he's still on the 40-man roster. -Nick Sogard is such an incredibly useful professional baseball player who deserves far more respect than he's given. Great at-bat for him today where he didn't realize the Sox were out of challenges and tried to challenge, went down 0-2, then worked the count to 2-2 and ripped a single to right. Dude just never gets rattled. A consummate professional. -Kristian Campbell's body language looks totally different than the last time we saw him, even in Worcester. Way more confident. That's more important than anything that could show up in the box score, especially this early. -Cooper Adams was the most impressive pitcher in the game today. Struck out the side in the seventh. Lived at 96 MPH. Nasty sinker. Threw a couple of breaking pitches in there too. Not on many prospect lists (Sox Prospects has him at #57), but if he is going to come out pitching like that, people are going to take notice. One to keep an eye on. -Mikey Romero has become underrated, and I'm not really sure why he isn't talked about more given his pedigree. Maybe it's because he doesn't play shortstop anymore. Maybe it's because of the injuries that cursed him early in his career. Regardless, he looks like a solid player.

Carlos Lagrange confirmed yesterday that we need to be pronouncing it “lah-GRAHN-heh”. Today he struck out Aaron Judge on 3 pitches with the last fastball hitting 102.6 on the gun. Later struck out Cody Bellinger and left to an ovation. 👀

Madison Bumgarner had more grand slams than Prince Fielder, who had more inside-the-park home runs than Rickey Henderson, who had fewer steals of home than Babe Ruth, who had as many shutouts as Pedro Martinez.

@OPS_BASEBALL It looks like having the highest avg bat speed is not necessarily a great thing. There is some tremendous power there but also a ton of swing and miss.

@EdHand89 Arraez would be a good fit for the Rockies. He has never struck out at Coors Field. He won't hit home runs but should increase his doubles and triples.

Paul DePodesta bringing Luis Arraez in to play 1B (or 2B) for the Rockies would be so cool. Hope they have the courage to make it happen.
