In this specific Virginia 2026 amendment (the one in the post), Democrats in the legislature voted along party lines *for* it to bypass the bipartisan commission and draw new congressional maps heavily favoring their party (projected 10-1 Dem advantage). Republicans voted against it. Voters narrowly passed the amendment 51%-49%. Neither side has a clean record on banning partisan gerrymandering.
