🤣This is a hilarious montage of Chuck Norris jokes.
If you think about it, he really was the first 80’s action hero and pretty much started the genre of 80’s and 90’s action movies.
Had a wonderful time at the zoo with @RizziCs! Got to see all sorts of critters, including my favorites at that zoo: the wallabies you can walk amongst with no barriers and the meerkats! Thanks for the wonderful day, @RizziCs!
Well, "I'm gonna do all the crafts EXCEPT knitting and cross-stitch in March!" didn't last very long. It's March 13th and I miss knitting and cross-stitch, ha ha. I'm getting back to the knitted hats now.
It was their first time seeing it, and not only did it completely hold their attention (even Rocket, who’s not very food motivated and is disinterested in toys or puzzles), but they both found every single kibble! I think they both really enjoyed it!
Introduced the pups to Chase’s old “snuffle mat.” It has countless little flaps of felt that kibbles can hide around and under. It engages their brain and lets them “forage.” I served their dinner in it, each dog fed separately.
A very loud protest filled with screaming and shrieking and bullhorns and sirens and helicopters circling overhead just five doors down from me at the intersection (where I'd be unable to drive anywhere if they blocked the road) was my experience for hours today. Stressful.
@FaithKMoore@prestonht81 Faith…I’ve been listening from the get go and have been extremely blessed by the show. Husband loves it too. I’ve turned many friends on to it as well. Never stop! And thank you. PS…your voices are GREAT!
I just started listening to Jane Eyre on the podcast, Storytime for Grownups by @FaithKMoore. Faith, I want to say thank you for creating this wonderful podcast! I have really enjoyed Jane Eyre and I look forward to the additional classics! Please continue with future seasons.
It's almost time to buy a bulk yarn order! I'll be ordering more black to keep going with the speckle-brimmed hats to finish up my stray bits of yarn, but I also want to order another color. I'll be enough to make 24 hats. What's your vote?
Navy, sage green, gray, or brown?
In 1974, 23-year-old Dan Jury made a life-altering decision to move his 81-year-old grandfather, Frank Tugend, out of a nursing home and into his own apartment to care for him full-time. What started as a personal commitment became a transformative moment in American elder care. Dan’s intimate photographs of their three years together were published in the 1978 book Gramp, co-authored with his brother Mark. The visual memoir, raw and emotionally honest, sold over 100,000 copies and played a pivotal role in the rise of the hospice movement, showing that dying at home, surrounded by love, was far more humane than institutional care.
Dan’s decision was a radical departure from the social expectations of the 1970s. While his peers pursued careers and relationships, Dan focused on caring for Frank—bathing him, managing his medications, and providing comfort during moments of confusion. Many saw these sacrifices as a waste of his youth, but Dan later reflected that those years with his grandfather taught him more about life than any job or relationship ever could.
Frank, a Ukrainian Jewish immigrant who had survived the hardships of the Depression, spent his final years not as a burden but as a teacher, showing Dan the strength in vulnerability, the value of family, and the grace in accepting help. Their bond, captured in photos of tender moments, demonstrated that caregiving is not a sacrifice but a profound exchange of love and lessons. Through Frank, Dan learned about the beauty of mortality and the dignity every individual deserves, regardless of age. Their story changed how America viewed elder care and inspired thousands to choose home care over institutionalization, proving that family responsibility is about love, not burden.
OK, so, an "earworm" is a song or ditty that gets stuck on "loop" in your brain...just keeps going. Drives you batty. But, sometimes it's a ditty you like, so it isn't that bad. But can someone explain why I woke up this morning with this one on endless repeat?
Rice-a-Roni, the San Francisco Treat!
Rice-a-Roni, the flavor can't be beat!
Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh
Fun fact: I'm part Manx. The Isle of Man is a dinky island with a population of just 84,160 people. And, of all the random awesomeness, some of them helped make an Iron Man animated series! The one I'm about to rewatch!
Years ago I was given an Apple TV as a 20-year anniversary gift at work. I never opened it. Until just now, specifically to put YouTube on the TV for dog-TV-loving Groot. He’s captivated.
Onwards to the second workweek of my vacation starting tomorrow.
Instead of work, I'm getting an oil change at my mechanic an hour away on Monday, I'm getting a filling at my dentist an hour away on Tuesday, and I'm touring an Amazon warehouse on Friday. Busy vacation!
@FaithKMoore What a great gift! I have been looking around used bookstores for a copy. No luck yet, but I’m not giving up! That really was a very fun adventure you took all of us on. Thanks so much.
