@BlackIslePMD @ClarkeMicah @jamesmfahy Arguably almost inconsequentially irrelevant. Iran has been responsible for vastly more death and suffering via their both Sunni and Shia 'useful idiot' proxies - HAMAS, Hezbollah and the Houthis in Yemen - in their lunatic war against Israel.

@Rkw550W @ClarkeMicah @jamesmfahy The idea that Iran (rather than the other states in the region) has been funding impactful terror in the west doesn't stand up to scrutiny. Look at the distribution. What ideology is killing people on the streets of the west?

Why? .@jamesmfahy. The USA and Israel have, throughout this crisis, been the ones acting outside the established rules of civilised diplomacy, surprise attacks , assassination, walking out of talks while they were still in progress. By comparison, Iran’s behaviour has been restrained.
James Fahy@jamesmfahy

@ClarkeMicah The naivety is in believing Iran were negotiating in good faith and that this might end satisfactorily.

@RasmusJarlov Duly noted. But in case you hadn't noticed you are not Israel, so your opinions carry no more weight than mine or your next door neighbour! Try actually addressing the issue and validity, or not, of what Netanyahu said.

@ClarkeMicah Your continued referring to the JCPOA is akin to the similarly gullible and naive who lauded Chamberlain's 'piece of paper' as a success - and blamed Churchill's 'warmongering' for getting us into a war. Again, deficiencies in the JCPOA details aside, Iran was not in compliance.

.@atomnic_mullah. What is 'nonsense', precisely? These are facts. Iran did make a deal, the 2015 JCPOA. Hardliners in Tehran hated it. Israel, supported by Donald J.Trump, broke it in 2018, setting the world on the path to war, where it now finds itself.
Atomic Mullah@Atomic_Mullah

@ClarkeMicah @AJEnglish Nonsense. How many decades have we seen the same playbook in action? Iranians say they are ready to deal. Useful idiots in the west line up to support them. No deal or cheat when there is one. Rinse and repeat.

@ClarkeMicah Peter, please tell us you're just trolling here?! It's a daft comment. Akin to asking "If prison doesn't deter murder then why have prisons?". They have the bomb to ensure that if jihadists wipe them out then the jihadists won't get to remain either!

@ClarkeMicah In any case your logic is flawed. Israeli nuclear arms have arguably deterred Iran from launching existential direct attack on Israel, and are the very reason for Iran seeking nuclear arms. A nuclear armed Iran could then do as it pleases without consequences (or so it thinks!)

Is anyone else struck by the way in which Israel's nuclear weapons, which we all know to exist, are implictly deemed not to be capable of deterring Iran, should Iran obtain nuclear weapons of its own? So, er.......

@ClarkeMicah They don't deter, in the sense you imagine, because Israel has publicly stated it would not be the first nation in the Middle East to ever use them. The Israeli nuclear program is widely known as the Samson option. Familiarity with the Bible will tell you the significance of that

@ClarkeMicah FWIW I believe that this current military campaign, while fully justified, is frankly and depressingly too little too late, by the U.S or anyone else, to stop Iran from getting workable nuclear weapons. I hope I'm wrong!

.@rkw550w. Do you think you may be too gullible to play any part in public affairs? There was 'intelligence' of Saddam's WMD. There was 'intelligence' that North Vietnam had attacked the US Navy in the Gulf of Tonkin.
DavidH@Rkw550W

@ClarkeMicah @GypsyBoots8 When one considers that there was, at the same time, intelligence showing, at a minimum, escalating excavation activity at last years bombed nuclear sites then one is justified in describing their stance as being one of 'good faith'.

@ClarkeMicah Additionally... Intelligence today is commercially available to independent observers. So, we don't have to take the word solely of the U.S government. Trump also warned publicly, last year, Iran would be bombed again IF they tried to again to resume their nuclear activities.

@ClarkeMicah Not at all. You're comparing 'apples with oranges'. There was clear satellite imagery showing that, in weeks preceding the ending of negotiations, the Iranians were actively working at the previously bombed nuclear facilities - earth moving equipment, attempting to gain access.

.@gypsyboots8 Yes, at the end of February Iran was negotiating in good faith, according to independent intermediaries the talks were making progress. Then, with no declaration of war, the USA and Israel assassinated the government and began armed attacks on Iran. Imagine what you’d say if it had been the other way round.
David Murray@GypsyBoots8

@philw1982 @Robertbigbags @Mollie_Whuppie @IndieChris71 @beatrismouse @BBCPropaganda @lateturn @ClarkeMicah Was Iran really "negotiating" in good faith--or was it simply repeating impossible demands in hopes of drawing out the process and buying time?

@ClarkeMicah @GypsyBoots8 I remind you that it is vital the Iranians are denied access to, or ability to work with, the enriched uranium they have. Any sign of them attempting to do that, even whilst supposedly negotiating, would justify repeat return bombing visits.

@afneil Andrew, presumably the real goal is to prevent Iran from being able to export any oil/gas? Hence no income. A better option than destroying their oil/gas production capability?

President Trump: US Navy to blockade “any and all ships trying to enter or leave the Strait of Hormuz,” after peace talks with Iran collapsed in Islamabad. Not immediately clear to me how this helps. More like another nail in the coffin of an already ailing world economy. Anyway here’s his full statement. Read it for yourselves.

@lukejcr How does someone so stupid become an MP?! 1) The military have language specialists 2) Plenty of accurate online translation tools 3) Works both ways - they could be convicted more easily 4) Refer to (1) 5) Yeah, because Border Force interview illegal boat migrants in depth! 🙄

So ‘Restore Britain’ far right clowns want to scrap public sector translation services. That policy is dangerous NONSENSE. Here are 5 examples why: 1️⃣ Our military would be unable to translate NATO intelligence when it isn’t in English. 2️⃣ A&E doctors would be guessing a tourist’s allergies eg if they were going into anaphylactic shock. 3️⃣ Criminals could walk free because key witnesses, such as visitors who see a major crime, couldn’t have their statements translated. 4️⃣ Intelligence services would be unable to carry out foreign language work. 5️⃣ Border Force would be severely weakened by an inability to conduct in-depth foreign language interviews. Impractical, dangerous discrimination.
Restore Britain@RestoreBritain_

Restore Britain will end all foreign language translation in the public sector, saving hundreds and hundreds of millions. If you live in our country, you speak our language.

Who thinks we should all listen to @elonmusk and stop training surgeons?
Dustin@r0ck3t23

Elon Musk just told the world to stop training surgeons. Not slow down. Stop. Musk: “There’ll probably be more Optimus robots that are great surgeons than there are all surgeons on Earth.” The entire global surgical workforce. Redundant. Before a current med student finishes residency. “Don’t go to medical school?” Musk: “Yes. Pointless.” Twelve years. Half a million dollars. One word. Optimus does not shake. Does not fatigue. Does not flinch at hour eleven of a twelve-hour operation. It improves every night while the surgeon sleeps. By year four, Musk says he’d stake everything on it. By year five, it is not close. Then came the line that rewrites who medicine has ever belonged to. Musk: “Everyone will have access to medical care that is better than what the president receives right now.” Medicine has always been rationed by wealth. The best surgeons on Earth have always belonged to the powerful. That ends. Completely. Within five years. The machine does not calibrate its precision to your net worth. It does not save its best work for the wealthy. Full capacity, every time, for everyone. One day, choosing a human surgeon over a robot will feel like refusing the anesthesia. Human hands are no longer medicine’s highest standard. The ones who doubted this will understand it the day they need surgery, not a surgeon.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has just been nominated to the UN Committee for Programme and Coordination to shape policy on women's rights, human rights, disarmament and terrorism prevention. The British government, of course, did not object to Iran’s appointment — even though the Iranian regime has been massacring thousands and thousands of protestors this year. At least it shows satire is not dead. NEXT UP> Satan nominated to investigate sin.

@DAVIDHALBRIGHT1 Why wouldn't Israel attack/destroy the Bushehr, or any other, reactor IF they felt there was need to do so. Why should they feel bound to not destroy it IF it posed a threat to them. There's a precedent for them destroying working nuclear facilities before, no? Osirak in Iraq?

Is Iran Using the Bushehr Nuclear Reactor as a Civilian Nuclear Shield? After a hiatus, the Good ISIS published yesterday a startling discovery of what targets were attacked near the boundary of the Bushehr nuclear powers reactor: Anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) Iran itself has increased the risk, whether deliberately or inadvertently it does not matter, of causing accidental hits on the Bushehr reactor by placing AAA too near its site boundary. Out of concern, I had personally contacted the Israeli government and confirmed that Israel will not target the reactor. Russia knows this, and I believe the Iranian regime does as well. The US will also not attack the Bushehr reactor. But AAA is a different matter. Iran should move any AAA or other air defense systems further from the site boundary until there is a peace deal. Or risk a charge of using a civilian nuclear reactor shield to attack US and Israeli aircraft. isis-online.org/isis-reports/i…
