This is insane. A New York City police officer conducted a drug bust on a known criminal. The criminal tried to flee the scene on a scooter, so the officer deployed a non-lethal weapon (threw a cooler at him) in an honest attempt to stop the suspect. The suspect died, which is unfortunate, but now the officer has been sentenced to 3-9 years in prison. That alone would be ridiculous. The judge took it a step further and explicitly said the aggressive sentence was meant to be a deterrent to other police officers. For what? For stopping criminals from committing crimes? The hardworking men and women of the NYPD deserve better than this. They risk their lives every day to protect innocent citizens from drugs and violent criminals. Activist judges who abuse their position of power over politics should be removed from office as well.

Outrage is building after Katie Hopkins delivered a statement that many are calling blunt, controversial, and impossible to ignore. Instead of focusing on giving schoolgirls r@pe alarms as a line of defense, she put forward what she described as a “mad idea” — one that immediately ignited debate across social media and political circles. “Why are we preparing young girls for danger,” she implied, “instead of removing the people who create it?” Her answer was clear and uncompromising: deport m!grant rap!sts. The remark has split opinion almost instantly. Supporters say it finally addresses the root of the issue with clarity and courage. Critics argue it oversimplifies a deeply complex problem and risks fueling division. But one thing is certain — people aren’t scrolling past this quietly. The conversation is escalating, emotions are rising, and everyone seems to have something to say.

The Catholic Left, led by figures like Christopher Hale, once pushed ‘Catholic Spring’ efforts to undermine U.S. bishops and bend the Church to secular politics. Now they accuse the Trump administration of threatening the Vatican. Classic projection of their own misdeeds. The Church belongs to neither left nor right. catholicculture.org/commentary/cat…

March 2026 was record warm in the U.S., mostly due to the two-week heatwave in the western half of the nation. But what the news media won’t tell you is that this area of relative warmth was balanced by near-record-breaking cold across much of Canada and Greenland. The cold pool’s larger spatial extent does some to compensate for the more impressive intensity of the U.S. warmth, so it evens out near zero continentally.

You want to know why? Because he’s going to hand out permits for protests instead and then pretend that’s the organic response to the country on the anniversary.
DeVory Darkins@devorydarkins

Socialist Mayor Mamdani is facing backlash for preventing New Yorkers from celebrating America’s 250th birthday. He literally is locking the public out of Times Square and denying permits for the people to celebrate our nation's greatest milestone.

@ClarkeMicah @GlorneC It's not just the mullahs, its the IRGC, a corrupt state-within-a-state that hijacks the majority of Iran's wealth and uses it for non-productive purposes.

@ClarkeMicah “The mullahs are very corrupt“ but would allow a thriving middle class, whatever that means under a corrupt mullah.

.@gypsyboots8 As I am not suggesting any such thing, this is not a very telling point. In fact, it is an extraordinarily silly thing to say.

@ClarkeMicah If we snap our fingers and make America (and let's throw in Israel while we're at it) disappear from the Middle East, do we have "lasting peace"? History suggests otherwide.

@ClarkeMicah My point is that the absence of "lasting peace" in the Middle East is not due to U.S. or Israeli actions, as you and ohters imply.

It’s “moderate in temperament” that these swing voters want. What they hate is the knee-jerk partisanship and exhausting grandstanding for grandstanding’s sake. It’s the consistent issue that appears to swing these voters against the whichever party is the incumbent party for a decade now.
Michael A. Cohen (NOT TRUMP’S FORMER FIXER)@speechboy71

The larger issue here is that many voters, particularly swing voters, don't know what "moderate" means ... or "liberal" or "conservative." I get @katz_morris impulse to blame DC consultants, but this is a larger problem with how pundits and reporters talk about politics. They imprint policy issues onto an ideological spectrum that makes sense to them but doesn't really explain how most voters (particularly swing voters) think. I suspect, for what it's worth, that most consultants (in both parties) understand this better, though I suppose YMMV.

@AndrewTWalker So defeating the Nazis was a waste of time and didn't lead to peace or create a "space of freedom"?

Generalization that provokes more confusion than clarity is pastoral malpractice. The statement below is rife with category errors, shallow exegesis, Utopianism, empty words, and pious sentiment. The Bible, with sixty-six books, is clearer than a single Pope. The below is why I remain stubbornly and joyfully Protestant.
Pope Leo XIV@Pontifex

God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples.

@washingtonpost Don't leave 1.3 million abortions in 2025 out of the analysis. Those women were fertile, so our live birth crisis isn't really a "fertility" crisis. And is it only "conservatives" who worry about falling birth rates? Really, WaPo? Is being pro-birth "conservative" now?

The fertility rate in the U.S. fell to a historic low in 2025 as fewer young women had babies, according to federal data. The downward trend has been a political flash point in recent years, with conservatives expressing worry and others applauding it. wapo.st/41tjZwe
