I see a lot of people dismissing @ryancohen’s proposal for $GME to acquire eBay. Rookie mistake. He started Chewy (now $10B company), saved GameStop from its demise, and has created a fortified balance sheet. Ryan is a winner with a track record of doing the impossible.

@Iliekstonkz @TheLongInvest Speaking of idolizing, why does it matter if he’s a billionaire, just answer the fucking question about YOUR company, regarding a deal YOU just announced, that’s in the interest of YOUR shareholders to understand. And just calm down with the jacket, Jensen already did that.

@TheLongInvest Sorkin is a bitch. Ryan Cohen is a self made billionaire. He answered the questions just fine. Why do you idolize news anchors? CNBC has done nothing but degrade the man and GameStop over the years. Cohen owes them NOTHING and he expressed that he has no respect for them.

Is Ryan high af here? This is not a CEO you could ever get behind. Sorkin asks a straight forward question How do you come up with the money to acquire a company nearly 4 times your size and he can’t answer a basic question EBay need to laugh at this
Exec Sum@exec_sum

BREAKING: Andrew Ross Sorkin challenges GameStop CEO Ryan Cohen on how the company plans to finance the $56B eBay acquisition, claiming the math doesn’t add up. Cohen appears unamused by the questions and simply says 50/50 cash and stock.

@Malone_Wealth How do you get to a 50% stock component of ~$25bn when GMEs entire mcap is ~$10bn, Kevin? You’re gonna increase GMEs mcap by issuing new shares? Genius more companies should do that

This interview was incredible. Cohen said multiple times that the offer was half cash half shares and they continously said that he only had $29B in cash so HOW COULD HE POSSIBLY BUY A COMPANY FOR $56B!?!? In my own head I said "umm because the other half is shares??" and CNBC could not put that math together. Then told him "The math doesn't math". Eventually leading to complete confusion on RC's side and him realizing that they brought him on to just try to make him look incompetent compared to all of the "finance pros here". Absolute shill-fest. @ryancohen

I get why people want to hate on this douchebag. But imho it's totally reasonable for a small company to buy a much much larger company with debt and equity issuance. Anyone with even a few years of skin in the game have seen leveraged buyouts and leveraged merger transactions. Frankly I even get the overlap between GameStop and EBay in terms of collectibles and other consumers stuff. People do leveraged buyouts/mergers for much less valid reasons. If you don't think the debt funding is secured sell $EBAY. If you don't think the deal is good for $GME shares because they are paying too much sell the share. But a 50/50 debt equity deal isn't outrageous.
Squawk Box@SquawkCNBC

“We are offering half cash, half stock, and we have the ability to issue stock in order to get the deal done," says $GME CEO @ryancohen on offering a bid for @eBay. Watch the full interview: cnb.cx/4n9TB4w

This is so true. I lived this. Functionally, my career as a "hedge fund guy" was over at 32. I built my ego around being a rising star, working at blue chip hedge funds, big bonuses, living the hedge fund lifestyle (fancy dinners, Hamptons share, brokers rolling out the red carpet). A bad career decision, a few bad trades, and not only did my self identity shift from "rising star" to "damaged goods", but my nervous system was so shot that I couldn't even muster the energy for a comeback attempt. I pulled the plug and moved my family from NYC to Arizona. I thought the change of scenery & lifestyle would be an immediate balm to the the angst I felt inside. Instead, things got dark, and really for the first time in my life, I struggled with depression. My advice to anyone who peaks early is the criticality of a new dimension of purpose. For me, three young sons (at that point, 6, 4 & 6 months) and a loving & supportive wife were the critical elements that kept me on track, and got me back on track. And, in retrospect, the pain was the biggest gift I've ever received, as it drove a deep exploration of spirituality & the true architecture of the universe. I had time and space to explore questions I never had time to explore before, like "Who am I and why am I here?".
Jared Sleeper@JaredSleeper

Any profession where people have decent odds of peaking early (i.e. 20s) can exact a big emotional toll on the unprepared. Professional athletes, hedge fund guys, etc.

Iranian state media is about as reliable as Pravda circa 1938. I thought blatant lying was haram? Shows you how much those POS care about their own religion. They are just a mafia gang/death cult that has taken over a country. Negotiations will get us nowhere, imho.

I am tired of hearing alarmism in the West about food and energy shortages. The reality, while sad, is that emerging market countries will bear the vast majority of these shortages. The West will simply pay higher prices to redirect supply away from those economies.

@puppyeh1 I watched this earlier and didn't know who Gary was. From the convo, I thought he was just a leftie normie with no knowledge of economy or finance - which is fine, we all have different skillsets. But talking about economics is actually his career? WTF.

Have you ever seen a more complete dismantling of any economics-related podcast bro? This is just vicious 💀 I always thought Gary was a total fraud; this proves it. Side note - never trust any supposed “expert” who literally cannot cede any point, no matter how minor, during an argument.

Trump: These are tough questions. They say take a number, any number. I say ok, 99. Multiply it by 9. Divide it by 3. Add 4293. Divide by 2. Subtract 93. Divide by 9. What is your answer? I got it right. It was actually more complex than that.
