@Fibby1123 @JOtweats @Joanna__Hardy @KernowNeg We do! While insects are not a huge issue in the UK for those who want them there are net screens that attach to window frames that use Velcro so you can open & close windows. Very cheap, effective & ideal for renters. There is also sliding ones that need to be fitted

@JOtweats @Joanna__Hardy @KernowNeg This is far more interesting to me than Brits/Euros not having AC. I understand the AC thing, but window screens are so cheap. Do they just let the bugs fly in? Do they not have bugs?

@slicepoh @elonmusk Simplistic view : Already a split empire (West & East) due in part to over expansion. Complacency & political corruption left Rome weakened further. Barbarian attacks led to Romes withdrawal from its outer borders (Briton Etc). The empire cascaded inwards until final loss in 476

@getoffmylawn_55 @JeffRoushPoetry Yes I have, in a Country with no baggers, we do it ourselves unless the cashier assists. You can have elderly people, disabled people or a parent with kids in front of you. The queue can sometimes get large but we cope, we may even offer assistance it’s called manners JimBob

@Rob722656571901 @JeffRoushPoetry Yes it is. Have you ever done grocery shopping in your life? If one person bags while the other is scanning, it should oly take a additional minute or so after the scanning finishes. You pay and they should be almost done. Think of the other people behind you in line too.

There’s a young man who bags groceries at my local Kroger whom I have long tried to avoid. He seemed nice, but was agonizingly slow. But today, I ended up in his lane and found he’s improved markedly. So I looked at him and told him I noticed how much better he’s gotten. (Thread)

@TheScotlandView @KieranMaguire This may be one of the tournaments biggest issues, at least from a European perspective. We’ve just had the best Euro’s (for fans) there’s been in a long time with the Germans & UEFA trying to make it as accommodating as possible. North America & FIFA just don’t seem to get it

@KieranMaguire Obviously I can’t wait for the tournament. However I had a “fuck me” moment when I looked at my tickets when I received them. Scrolling down and seeing in black and white that I paid $1800 for 3 in December. In the Scotland SC so in Germany €50 each for all 3 matches.

The World Cup starts in 17 days and there are still tickets available for the opening games for Scotland and England at just $1,300 and $2,500 respectively. Why not bring the family?

@Gordon_998877 @MacAndRosie It’s better if you think of what it actually is, a European super league where the new format has been brought in by UEFA to stave off an actual breakaway super league. UEFA will continue to pander to the ‘big 5’ until inevitably the big teams from the big 5 break away anyway

@MacAndRosie Its better if you think of it as a comp to find the Champions of Europe rather than a comp of Champions of their individual countries. I'd like to reduce the number of teams tho & yes 5 or 6 from PL is too much. Europa & Conference Leagues is the place for smaller countries.

It’s time to scrap the so called Champions League. There will be 5/6 EPL teams 5 Spanish 4 German 4 Italian 3 French all straight through to the league stage. Meanwhile, actual champions from countries such as, Wales, Ireland, Finland and Iceland face up to 8 qualifying games.

@ColinSNewsday The official name is internationaux de France de Tennis which to English speakers is translated as the French Open. The French people add Le Roland Garros and often shorten it to Roland Garros. It’s the same as we call The Championships, Wimbledon just Wimbledon

Why is TNT insisting on calling this Roland Garros, instead of the French Open? Did I miss something? Is there some kind of rebranding or something going on I wasn’t aware of?

@Seanchuckle You’d be suprised at how little there was especially the early 80’s. Country for many was in a mess, late 70’s & early 80’s infamous for recessions. I grew up in an area doing well (Aberdeenshire, Oil boom) but going out to eat was still a treat. Did Improve as the 80’s went on

@BecomingCritter Not needed / financially viable in the UK, yet. We may get a few weeks of what we consider heatwave weather but on the whole summers are temperate. Houses are designed for colder months. Building practices do change though so may become common if temps continue to rise

@Saskiateague Would they would allow Scottish Kids to carry a Sgian-dubh? Legal in the UK if the Kilt is worn but I doubt very much that they would allow it. Nor should they as common sense should prevail. Kids running around with knifes at school isn’t good regardless of ‘reasons’

🚨 The Henry Tudor School in Wales has sent a letter to parents stating why Sikh students are allowed to carry the Kirpan ceremonial blade into school. This is the same weapon that recently killed 18 year old Henry Nowak. Take your children out of schools like this. It is not worth the risk. Please share 🙏🏼

@GeorgeSzamuely “From Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic, an iron curtain has descended upon the continent” Winston Churchill, 1946, three years before the formation of NATO. Given that a Russian invading force is in Ukraine, I can’t see that much change in Russian foreign policy

@PatriciaNPino No!! Borrowing 27% of GDP annually, more than doubling the national debt to 270% of GDP. Relying on Lend-Lease. Income tax at 50% - 97.5%, VAT at 33.33%. Profits taxed at 100%. All WW2 polices, all presumably necessary, none good. We are not at war, away with your stupidity

Is it a good time to remind people that Britain successfully used price controls during WWII and that this, alongside other price targetting policies, are part of the reason Britain managed to sustain the war for so long?

@Luke3045 Guessing you might be too young to remember the player, good enough for me to choose to forget his managerial stint. Sadly I’ve had to do that a few times, McGhee being the most obvious example. Even the greatest ever needed his 3rd season as manager wiped from my memory
