@BillyReinhardt I hope the franchise dissolves at this point. I’ll never understand why the org has been content with mediocrity for most of my life and the moment they have talent OR the chance to get talent, they piss it away. I can’t take any more of this.

The Nets asked for a lot of patience and buy-in from their fanbase when they decided to reacquire their own picks from Houston for a transparent goal of a two-year hard tank. Fans were behind the plan, excited to finally have the opportunity to watch potential homegrown star(s) to develop. The Nets didn’t do enough last year and finished with the 6th worst record, ultimately falling to 8th in the draft lottery. Bad process AND bad luck, I guess. This year, it was a success through 77 games with top-3 odds nearly secured. However, consecutive wins have put the tank in jeopardy as the Nets are at risk of falling to as low as 5th in odds. Sure, “it’s a lottery” and the difference in odds is marginal under the flattened format (we’re talking about a difference in top-4 odds of 52% to 45% in the Nets’ best and worse case scenarios) but the Nets’ process through this final stretch should reflect that the organization’s entire goal for two years has been to tank. Finish the mission. I haven’t had much issue with how they’ve handled this season but blowing a 3 game lead with 5 games to play with wins in the final week would be brutal for a fanbase that has been told for two years to buy into the tank. Again, the 7% difference in top-4 odds would be minor but the process has been flawed and the mission would have been failed. Who knows — maybe the Nets land 4th or 5th instead of 3rd and that slot has much better lottery luck in June but the process & results in this final week have been disappointing. Three more games and it’s imperative that Brooklyn loses out.
