Tesla energy is about to go vertical in the near future. They are building a massive energy manufacturing campus in Brookshire, TX (just west of Houston) combining Megapack batteries and reportedly also a large-scale solar panel production facility. Details: Megapack Factory • ~$200M investment • Up to 1,500 jobs • Production targeted for late 2026 • Hiring ramp: 375 by end-2026 → 1,500 by 2028 Solar Panel Factory • Co-located with Megapacks for full energy synergy • Full vertical integration: meaning ingots → wafers → cells → panels • Additional >$250M investment & major equipment deals • Supports Tesla’s ambitious 100 GW annual US solar goal • Production possibly in 2027 This pairs perfectly with Giga Texas in Austin. What’s also interesting are all the data center jobs available in Brookshire as well.

@muskonomy Sounds fair to me as we do use the roads and should help in its upkeep. In KS we are already paying $100 per year per EV tax for road maintenance.

NEWS: US House lawmakers have proposed bipartisan legislation requiring EV owners to pay a $130 annual road fee, with $35 for some plug-in hybrid models. The proposal is part of a five-year highway reauthorization bill expected to cost $500B+. Current law expires September 30, 2026. Most federal road repair funding comes from gas and diesel taxes. EVs pay neither. If passed, Tesla owners would pay $130 a year toward road maintenance that gas car drivers fund through every fill-up.

Amy any idea how Elon may favor "long term Tesla shareholders" with the upcoming SpaceX IPO. I am hoping that Fidelity will allocate some shares to me. I am lucky to have invested in SpaceX indirectly via Ron Baron's BPTIX for decades so I know we will get lots of SpaceX shares AND higher valuation.

I agree with that - I am keeping TSLA, but there is always risk of the grifters that try to tank a deal the company needs. I will be DCA into SpaceX going forward. Likely still buying TSLA too , and haven’t determined what ratio I will use to allocate cash between the two. I need to see the prospectus. And start tracking both companies and their execution. I also have saved some cash for the SpaceX IPO too (and amount dwarfed by my large Tesla position, but 10x what I invested in the days following Tesla’s IPO). People should do what works for them. This is what I have chosen. Originally I was going to invest half/half. That changed because I see the synergies between Tesla and SpaceX and a strong argument for a merger. Selling a large chunk of Tesla to chase SpaceX after the IPO could result in significantly less shares in the merged company - if a merger happens. But, I can’t imagine not owning SpaceX, and I won’t leave that up to a vote - or out of my complete control. I will buy shares continuously until such date there may be a merger vote announced . My strong conviction is that a merger is absolutely required. For Tesla to realize ambitions like replacing 1.6 Billion cars on the road, and 100 Million Optimus: Tesla needs chips and capital. SpaceX is solving for both, and SpaceX needs Tesla’s chip design. Should be a win/win. But then the grifters pile on, trying to sell Tesla investors on their financial advisory services and create false narratives and fear. They clearly don’t care about investors and lack the ability to do clear fact-based analysis: An hour of Elon Musk’s time can be worth 100 Billion - it shouldn’t be spent on useless bureaucracy and red tape like board approvals and conflict committees. It “may work” to continue as a JV isn’t really a thing. A JV MUST WORK for Tesla to scale.

i hope SpaceX gives plenty of brokers retail allocation. I get people asking me how to get undiluted access to IPO.

@AaronJRolen MS has 100 KWHR battery Pack and I think CT has 135 KWHR battery pack. Of course the MS weighs much less than CT. Agree on the cost of charging at SC. It costs us $4 to fully charge our MS at home (from midnight to 6 AM).

@RobKeshav I don’t think I realized the model s could get 410. Now I really think the CT should get that much.

I test drove a cybertruck for the first time last week. Amazing machine. Was really tempted. Still am. The range is basically a deal breaker. I live 2-2.5 hrs from Dallas. I want to drive there and back comfortably. My Silverado EV is inferior in every way—but gets 450 miles.

17 May 2026 @Tesla Lithium Plant drone video clip & a few images! Windy day to fly, but still great views of the operational Lithium Plant near Robstown, Texas (& Corpus Christi, TX). We get to see the rotation kiln & coolers in action today, and this is an important part of turning the raw Spodumene Concentrate 6 material into (ultimately) the finished LiOH product that is then shipped to Giga Texas for further processing at the Battery Cathode Plant. Wow, Elon wasn’t kidding. 14.3.3 is absolutely a banger. As you can see here i’ve used self-driving every day for the last 3 days, and have gone 41.3 miles without intervention on 14.3.3 This is first truly refined build of FSD 14.3.3. It is the first build that surpasses 14.2.2.5 in polish. In my opinion, this is the first version that should have gone wide. 14.3.2, while great, was often a little jumpy or jerky due to its increased reaction time. When the reaction time increases the model often gets a little jumpy until it is retuned. That seems to have happened now. With each little point release I feel the model coming to life. The way it slows down ever so slightly (~1 mph) when it can’t see over the hill, the way it eases in when it sees a bumpy section of the road. It’s so refined. The way it responds instantly when it sees the car next to it veering into its lane. Like wow, even I can’t drive that smoothly and react that quickly. Tesla is by far the gold standard in self-driving comfort. With each build it feels more and more like a personal robotaxi. It can now even operate driverlessly at up to 8 miles per hour. Kudos to the Tesla AI team. You mother fuckers are absolutely COOKING! Send it wide… replace 14.3.2 with this right away. Also love the new self-driving streaks feature. Gamifying self-driving usage is a very smart way to make sure people only intervene when absolutely required, increasing the signal to noise ratio of interventions in the dataset. Please make this available via fleet telemetry so people can compare to see who has the longest streak easily
