The problem with macroevolution is that it's both unobservable and unfalsifiable. The belief typically gets installed in high school when some teacher tells a story about a giraffe who had a slightly longer neck and could then reach higher up on a tree to get more fruit than the other giraffes. Then, to explain species-to-species change we wave the magic wand of an unobservable, unfalsifiable millions of years, where anything in your wildest dreams can happen, with your imagination being the only limitation ✨ ... provided we can piece together a few fossilized bones into a convincing enough artistic rendition to support whatever "intermediate" creature we allege to have existed. On that last point, note that looking at incomplete fossils and coming up with narratives around them is not science proper, but something else.
