@thetimes You ran an article on Spider Bites @sleighbayley is the author. Can you explain by a Professor of Science Communications is considered the expert to comment on clinical management of Spider bites/ public concern. Surely a surgeon might be a better source?

Maybe Itoje needs to be dropped. As Captain. As a player. The team looks lost!

Scotland should be beating France. A TMO shouldn’t get to call a play that the ref missed several cycles ago. An intentional headbutt should be a red. This is ridiculous. Scotland are playing epic rugby

@armyemdoc @Cresilon I mean I personally have made an alginate-chitosan hydrogel and seen how effective it is as a haemostat. So that’s my ‘data’/lived experience. They came out of an NYU lab . Hold on I ll go digging

@RobearPierre @Cresilon Pretty effective, what data? There's no data published in it under Traumagel or Vetigel. If you have studies, I'd be interested in reading them.

I've received a number of questions about Traumagel from @Cresilon. Here's my two cents based on what's public so far: -This was FDA cleared, NOT FDA approved. There's a difference. It went through the 510k pathway, which means it was cleared as a device and not as a drug. I'm not clear as to what they cited as their predicate device. More important, the FDA did not view the gel contents as a drug. -There's zero publications on PubMed when you search "Traumagel" or "Cresilon hemostatic" -They only state that it's a plant-based proprietary hydrogel, unknown what the mechanism of action is. Since it was a plant-based compound, the FDA likely has no oversight of the hemostatic, though this information is not public so that's just an educated guess. I remain skeptical on the performance of this device. I would not recommend use of this for major hemorrhage until large-animal or clinical data is published. cresilon.com/2024/08/15/cre… #emergency #emergencymedicine #criticalcare #icu #erlife #iculife #science #army #armymedicine #armyemdoc #resuscitation #research #data #trauma #medx #medtwitter

@armyemdoc @Cresilon I mean bonding chitosan to an aliginate polymer in a hydrogel format as they have done is a pretty effective (and simple )haemostat without anything more complex...

Really hope @GaryLineker or @alanshearer take the England job for no salary. Given they were sooo critical of @GarethSouthgate. Really look forward to them easily doing better and building a cohesive inclusive environment, as they made it sound easily. ridiculous.

Controversial armchair opinion - Southgate has been a great manager that has built a strong team. Certain former England players should be much more supportive of him. Given the fact he’s taken England further in any tournament than any recent England player
