@in_yacht Magnificent tune. Exquisite voice. But is this version a little too fast? Seems hurried at sections.

@JamieBrysonLLB Just my Monday reminder to everyone not to take anything Mr. Bryson says or suggests too seriously . He comes to this platform, and indeed every other outlet which gives him airtime, with profound and enduring credibility issues. Or, as I like to say: he’s a big, fat liar.

@JamieBrysonLLB Re Scalia and Alito biographies( where you have turned off the replies): my guess is that neither Judge had much time for witnesses who lied under oath. Just a guess. Will be interesting what the books say.

Deeds just can’t help himself. If he would just breathe, stay within his very limited statutory functions, and stop his aggressive weaponisation of his office then he would not require legal advice. There is already far too much monies wasted on an Irish Language Campaigner- he should’t get a penny more belfasttelegraph.co.uk/news/politics/…

It’s good to see the Executive Committee, in particular Philip Brett and Timothy Gaston, continue to keep the pressure on out of control Irish Language Campaigner Pol Deeds. He made another of claims to the committee, now he is being held to them & asked to substantiate them.

@JamieBrysonLLB @csbuckler As we approach the anniversary of this 💥judgement (do you see what I did there?), perhaps Chris Buckler might host a special podcast on this judgement and how it shocked the political class to its core: “ Bryson, one year on-is he still a big liar?”

Credit where it is due @csbuckler on BBC Good Morning Ulster. A fair, intelligent and proper discussion on the call-in judgment, which accurately covered all issues. Stands in stark contrast to yesterday’s reporting.

Perfect examples within the comments of the actual abuse I receive when posting something as menial as a road getting repaired following my lobbying. Meanwhile, some people have a meltdown when one of their colleagues’ writing is criticised. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Matthew Shanks@matthew_shanks1

Pleased to see partial resurfacing of Glenburn Road, Dunmurry, being carried out following my request for an urgent inspection. This has been something I have lobbied in favour of for quite some time. #DUPDelivery

@JamieBrysonLLB McLaughlin J’s judgement will be worth a read. Seems it traverses a number of issues. In the meantime, however, here is a much more straightforward except of another case: this excerpt is about a liar.

This is just totally false. (1) you don’t need “leave to apply”- the granting of leave was in respect of the two stages of first instance JR. (2) the applicant won on ground 2 making clear (as you were all told) the procedure for Palestine flag was unlawful, and will be a declaration to this effect. Are you just ignoring this? You said this complaint was “baseless” (3) Court of Appeal was always inevitable on the interpretive issue around call-ins, no matter who won or lost. It’s too big an issue. (4) BCC lost the case on ground 2, therefore will likely be liable for full costs for the case (applicant and their own) as is standard. At least; even departing from that, they will be liable for their own very significant costs. (5) Irish Language call-in has yet to be processed. It should be stayed pending Court of Appeal. (6) However, even if processed, there’s every chance it is held to have merit, which even on council’s own case, would thereafter require 80% majority to be sustained. (7) if held not to have merit, McLaughlin J expressly addressed the issue of ‘standing’ for citizens to bring challenges. At that stage, a resident of Belfast could bring a challenge against the legal opinion (given its treated as determinative) to challenge the substance of the divisive Irish Language policy. As you will appreciate, and as we always said, regardless of first instance battle and whoever won, we are a long way from the end of the war. Even BCC officers appreciate this reality.
Carl Whyte@CarlJWhyte

I was in the court as the judgment was read out. Yet to read any BBC story. The granting of leave to appeal fairly standard in a High Court case & given the fact that on all substantive issues the case was dismissed I suppose an appeal is the only remaining option. Predict the same outcome at Court of Appeal. Meantime more council time & ratepayer money wasted.

Firstly, leave granted on ALL grounds, and will now proceed to Court of Appeal. Secondly, ALL grounds were not dismissed, in fact the case succeeded in respect of the unlawful decision to hoist the terrorist flag of Palestine. Don’t believe everything you read on BBC.
Carl Whyte@CarlJWhyte

Was in the High Court this morning to listen to the dismissal of all grounds in the case - taken by a TUV member & supported by the DUP - to challenge Belfast City Council's standing orders and Irish language policy. A total waste of Council officer time and public money.

@niamh_journo Been bugging me for a few days, but anyone who impugns a writer’s ability and uses the expression “low capability” in that exercise, really ought to tread carefully. I imagine it wouldn’t get by a good subbie.

Last thing I’ll say on this: no one critiques my writing more than me - I’m always trying to improve, & it's subjective anyway! But I did win a UK-wide sports writing award… & a GAA story helped get me there 😉 (Dharmesh had to present it virtually as it was lockdown!)
Matthew Shanks@matthew_shanks1

Very poorly written piece. Lacks coherent argument and demonstrates a low capability in writing long articles. Sad!
