Nearly three years to the day since I rejected the tenure offer at my alma mater UNC Chapel Hill and announced instead I’d be going to @HowardU, I returned to North Carolina and talked about the #1619Project in front of a sold-out crowd of 1,200. It was magical and I hope an inspiration in these times that we have more power than we think we have and certainly more power than THEY think we have. Onward!

For a mayor that loves to talk black, bring up his black sons and how as a black father, anything the "big bad and scary" @Chicago_Police Officers that try to do their job, concerns him. Constantly dividing the city because of his constant talk about programs and policies that are supposed to benefit the west and Southside of #Chicago, like the "other" sides of Chicago are exempt of crime and therefore don't need the same type of programs and investments. Funny how our Black Mayor disappeared recently while so many Black residents were being killed in #MassShootings including an eight year old child. The Chicago Police Department with their continued days off being canceled were all over the west and south-side of Chicago dealing with shootings and violence with families lives forever changed. Where were you Mr. Mayor? Somewhere safe with your black sons and 150 @Chicago_Police Detail while other peoples sons and daughters were being slaughtered on the streets of Chicago.
