Canada Celebrates the FIFA World Cup 2026 is coming to downtown Brampton this weekend! ⚽🎉 Here's what you need to know before you go: ➡️ Canada Celebrates takes over Garden Square on Saturday, July 18 (12 to 8 p.m.) and Sunday, July 19 (10 a.m. to 6 p.m.) with free match screenings, fan experiences, live entertainment, food vendors and family-friendly activities. ➡️ Explore even more downtown with: 🎶 Vibrant Brampton (July 17 to 19) 🛍️ Brampton Farmers' Market (July 18) 🎉 Party in the Lanes: Goals, Goods & Grooves (July 18 and 19) ➡️ Temporary road closures will be in effect from Saturday, July 18 at 6 a.m. until Sunday, July 19 at 11:59 p.m. to create a pedestrian-friendly downtown experience. ➡️ Free parking is available at all municipal parking garages throughout the weekend, or ride @BramptonTransit for a convenient way to get downtown. ➡️ Downtown businesses, restaurants, cafés and retailers remain open throughout the weekend, so be sure to shop, dine and explore while you're here. Thank you to the 4,800+ households who participated in last night’s Recreation Telephone Town Hall with the City of Brampton and Brampton Recreation. 📞 Residents heard directly from Mayor @PatrickBrownOnt, Council and the City’s Recreation team about key recreational updates, facilities and services that are building a healthier, active and stronger #Brampton. Here’s what we learned: ➡️ 94% support free recreation programs for seniors ➡️ 39% support ActiveAssist continuing to be available to all age groups ➡️ 22% selected outdoor racquet sports as the top priority for new investments (among nine sport options) ➡️ 71% support additional outdoor pools for public use ️➡️ 73% support expanding outdoor rinks for free public hockey and skating ️➡️ 85% support investing in underutilized school fields to create more recreation opportunities These conversations help shape the future of recreation in Brampton and ensure we continue to provide meaningful programs, services and amenities that improve the health and well-being of our residents.
