Charlie McAvoy had every right to be furious. Ridiculous play by Zach Benson at any time, but especially given the circumstances when it happened.

@mangheloni @SabresFunStats Yes. It seems that McAvoy didn’t go in intentionally with the slew foot (that’s sarcasm). He also didn’t intentionally go after Benson in a premeditated manner. He’s a dirty player that couldn’t handle when it happened to him.

Before diving 100% into the #NFLDraft and the future #Bills, just a quick post on Sean McDermott. I was born in 1991, for the vast majority of my cognitive life the #Bills were bad. In 2017 they were supposed to be bad...but they were good, and leaned far forward on their skiis. The primary reason for that was Sean McDermott. He brought the best out of the players on that team and made players that were viewed as lesser as elite. I know he didn't bring the #Bills to the ultimate goal but he, more than anyone else, is the reason that franchise went from NOTHING to SOMETHING. Sean McDermott laid a foundation for that franchise and it's one I hope leads to grasping a Super Bowl trophy, even if in the hands of another coach. A unique man that valued person above talent and made my favorite sports team, for the first time in my life, mean something to so many that viewed it as nothing.

I don’t even really know how to start this, and I’m not sure the words will ever feel right… but I want to try. Halfway through my cruise, I got a text and then a call that changed everything. My brother had been hospitalized. Intubated. Non-responsive and was now being transferred to the ICU. Hours passed and then I got the news…my baby brother didn’t make it. The doctors said there was nothing more they could do. He was 38 years old. He leaves behind three beautiful children who were his entire world. I’m sitting here in this strange space between disbelief and heartbreak. Angry. Confused. Completely exhausted. He went to bed with a headache… and now he’s gone. It doesn’t make sense. None of this makes sense. My brother and I had something special. We were so much alike in the ways that matter. He’d message me during my Bills trips asking for pictures, joking about living vicariously through me. Those little moments feel so big now. Like pieces of something I didn’t realize I would miss this much. I’ve been told the waiting room was full. Friends, people who loved him, people who showed up for him in his final moments. That part gives me some comfort… knowing he wasn’t alone, knowing how deeply he was loved. I don’t think reality has fully hit me yet. Every time I start to feel it, to really let it in, I find a way to shut it down. I keep myself busy. I distract. Because the weight of it feels like too much to carry all at once. Right now, the only thought that brings me even a small sense of peace is this… maybe he’s with my dad again. Maybe they found each other. My dad with his 7&7 in hand and Joe with his bourbon. If you’re reading this, hug your people a little tighter. Say the things. Don’t wait. I love you, Joe. Always. Give Dad a hug for me.
