Rep. Maxwell Frost misrepresents routine public safety at a large festival as targeting. Frost said law enforcement was targeting Rockville festival attendees and Uber drivers in Central Florida. He called them productive members of society just trying to earn a living. What actually happened: At Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Volusia County deputies made 13 arrests on drug, felony, and other charges. Border Patrol joined standard multi-agency security and detained 5 people based on immigration violations. This coordinated effort followed 2024 where theft gangs, mostly without legal status, stole from over 500 concertgoers. The 2025 event drew a record 230,000 attendees, and large festivals use coordinated local, state, and federal resources to prevent crime. This is basic protection, not targeting. The Uber drivers were working without legal authorization, which violates federal law. Frost skips the criminal context and turns standard enforcement into harassment. Immigration checks at high-risk events protect the public.
