The Rochester, NY highway removal was able to reclaim 6.5 acres of land, leading to $229 million in development and millions in new tax revenue for the city. We need more urban highway removals.

@data_atx @_AustinCurrent create new stormwater treatment facilities where none exist in the urban core is a big cost driver with no public transit benefit. It is good to treat stormwater, but should a first of its kind and currently controversial project bear that cost?

@data_atx @_AustinCurrent I feel like one thing under-reported on the high per-mile cost is that Austin is getting complete streets style reconstruction including stormwater treatment of many of these narrow roads. By requiring Project Connect to (for example, not exclusive) (1/2)

Incredible new article on Austin's light rail project from @_AustinCurrent Many good moments, but my favorite: The new ridership estimates are so bad and the costs so high we could buy every rider an Aston Martin instead 😂 austincurrent.org/2026/05/21/aus…

"If a border wall—or other destructive border infrastructure—is built inside Big Bend National Park, it would be the most egregious assault on the integrity of the entire National Park System since the construction of a dam in the Hetchy Hetchy Valley in Yosemite National Park more than a century ago." This is a grave warning from seven high-level NPS superintendents, folks who rarely break ranks and wade into advocacy. I'm proud to see my former superintendent Cindy Ott-Jones among the co-authors.
Laiken Jordahl@LaikenJordahl

BREAKING: 7 former heads of Big Bend are urging @SecMullinDHS not to waive environmental & resource protection laws in the national park. If DHS rams this waiver through, it would be the first time in American history that all environmental laws were gutted in a national park.

There are 91 PA energy generation projects that have PJM interconnection agreements, but no state or local permits yet. 78 of these are solar or wind projects subject to OBBBA's federal tax credit cliff this summer. That's about 1,415 MW of already-approved capacity at risk

cars/drivers are my biggest fear as a parent in philadelphia. it shouldn’t be this way and it would be very easy to fix if anyone gave a shit
Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta@malcolmkenyatta

In the past 6 months, I lost a friend who was killed riding his bike and I could have lost my husband @drmattkenyatta , who survived after being hit riding his. This isn’t abstract for me. I wrote about it for @PhillyInquirer. share.inquirer.com/y5EKBe

@senortalone @DPearsonPHL Ugh more people have responded to the park groups email about the new permit system than showed up for Love Your Park day to improve the park. If that’s not Philly in a nutshell…

You'd be shocked by the extent to which the "occasional visitor to your city" from a nearby suburb controls your city's housing and transportation policies. The failure of democracy comes in many forms, empowering wealthy suburbanites with dictatorial powers is a big one.
Wendy D. Wakeman@WDWakeman

@SpceSVer As an occasional visitor to your city, I find the bike lanes confusing and I have rarely see anyone using them. Your experience could certainly be different

So jealous because here in Philly it's been 2 years since a Doctor was killed in one of the busiest bike lanes in the city and our Mayor Cherelle Parker has yet to even change a single thing about those streets. What an embarrassment of a Mayor we have.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani@NYCMayor

I joined NY’s Cutest on the Bergen Bike Bus that they ride to school every Wednesday, rain or shine. We’re adding bike boulevards and more pedestrian space on Bergen and Dean Street, from Court Street to East New York Ave. It was a wonderful kind of day.

@JawadPullin @jongeeting How about city council just raises property taxes to fund schools and septa? Obvi the state should do more but in the meantime we can’t let everything collapse
