Virgin's new B737-8 just out of the paintshop at Renton with a special livery to celebrate their 150th B737. We saw a picture a few days ago & thought it was fake, but these are real! A bit of a throwback to the Virgin Blue days? 📷Alex Crail/Jetphotos instagram.com/aviation35/

@rtwlz For a sequel can I suggest one that plays the Countdown timer music directly into the meeting in the last 30 seconds before the scheduled end of the meeting? youtu.be/-osJHnBXsMQ

@kyliebytes He forgot The Rule: if two people want others to move so they can sit together, the one with the better seat has to be the one to trade. Move 22 rows back and sit with your buddy if it’s so important!

guy on the middle seat of my redeye flight bravely asked me if i would move from my exit row window seat to a middle row seat 16 rows back so his friend could be with him. when i said no, he asked the aisle guy, who just laughed

@flightradar24 I get you’re using the airline colours but that means it’s very hard to trace which is AirArabia and which is Emirates without some other way to clearly disambiguate them. Yeah you can zoom in but that defeats the purpose (and obviously it wouldn’t pass accessibility tests).

Hearing that @Guardian editor Katharine Viner has been overwhelmed with complaints (many from her friends) about Jonathan Liew’s abhorrent column justifying smashing up a branch of Gail’s because it had a Jewish founder. Insiders say she is beyond angry and heads will roll.

@ConorMagee29 @hamhammer27 Interesting that (a) they’re not trains given the stopping pattern (though I get that it’s easier to organise a coaches + drivers) and (b) they’re free, while presumably the trains remain Opal fares.

@hamhammer27 I suspect ‘turn up and go’ is being used to distinguish from the usual booked seat coaches that are run by NSW TrainLink, although it’s probably not the right phrase to use

new definition of “turn-up-and-go” is a coach service which operates every 2.5 hours? 🤨

@gordonhudsonnu @edwinhayward @jwegener That’s still a pattern - if you’re not home power usage will stay roughly the same during the day as it is at night.

Did you know your electric meter is broadcasting your live usage data right now?! I sent Claude a photo of my LADWP meter, bought the suggested $49 antenna off Amazon, and in 1 minute and 6 seconds of Claude Code’s time, was seeing my live meter data. It even pulled my meter ID from the photo so it knew which signal was mine We are living in CRAZY times 🤯🤯🤯

@8ballskinny They use an average and for a larger aircraft it works most of the time. The weight distribution is important. It has caused a crash when on a smaller aircraft and the average was sufficiently wrong: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Midwe…

genuine question: why does luggage weight matter if passenger weight doesnt?? like why can a plane full of ppl over 200lbs bring the same weight luggage as a plane full of ppl under 100lbs? i genuinely don’t get this does anyone have a real answer

@gotrice2024 These aren't common in my country but does it not have elevators or stairwells? Going up or down one level will move them to the other spiral and then they'd be able to walk around that spiral to the car. Or just step over the fence lol.

The man and his girlfriend were parked in this double helix parking garage. They didn’t come back the same way they came and now they can’t figure out how to get back to the same level the car is on. They see it through the wire fence but if they go the lower route they actually end up below the vehicle. If they take the higher route, they end up above it. Has this ever happened to you, how did you get back to your car?

@RachelMoiselle They’re already onshore so an application for a Protection Visa (subclass 866) seems a bit of a no-brainer at this point, especially given the statements that were made, if there isn’t a more suitable visa. In 2023-24, 75% of Iranian applications for this type were granted.

What the hell is even the point of an asylum system that fails to protect the most obviously and incontrovertibly in need? If these girls are sent back to Iran, they could very well be heading back to their deaths.

Australia is facing pressure to protect the Iranian women’s soccer team, the Lionesses, as the squad faces criticism at home over their failure to sing the national anthem at a Women’s Asian Cup match on the Gold Coast last week bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

I wish safety briefings would get a real update to succinctly but clearly present messaging around documented issues like not taking belongings in an evac and not inflating life jackets inside. But hey to fasten your seatbelts push the ends together until they click.
The FAA ✈️@FAANews

In the event of an emergency evacuation, every second counts. Flight crews are elite safety professionals trained to move passengers off an aircraft in seconds. Passengers must listen to their instructions and exit the aircraft immediately leaving all carry-on items behind. Any delay risks the safety of everyone on board. Leave the luggage!

@MrM_Holmes @SenseReceptor Actually Swedish PM Carl Bildt emailed him, didn’t get a reply, and a Swedish staffer had to call the WH about it a few days later. Turns out they weren’t connected yet. Entirely possible Clinton was barely involved lol qz.com/861001/i-sent-…
