A trend has surfaced within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, X community. It feels like some corner has been turned. Perhaps you noticed it, too? When I first got active here during the summer, I soon became acquainted with rather large accounts that were making a living posting anti-mo stuff. The number of posts and the number of derogatory comments and likes were voluminous. Undaunting really. It was like swimming against the tide. I've been keeping tabs on a few of those accounts, and in the last few weeks, they've stopped. The barrage of such posts has greatly slowed - at least the larger, high-volume ones. So much that it looks like I'm out of a job. The LDX community has been valiantly facing those dragons head-on with confidence and effectiveness at a rate/stamina I've never witnessed before - at least not from that many different people/accounts. Fairer algorithms on X have helped, but even with that...something changed. Something grew. My biggest discoveries this year are: Our religion is awesome, brilliant, and substantial. You can't hide how bright it shines and how much Truth and Light are present. I love Christ's description! “That thy church may come forth out of the wilderness of darkness, and shine forth fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners...” (Doctrine & Covenants 109:73) Just like Dr. Seuss's Sneetches/stars on the bellies story - we stopped buying into that empty gotcha that we weren't good enough to belong to the Christian club. For the first time ever, I realized the Christian club has nothing - no leg to stand on in in terms of history or authority or continuity or soundness of precepts. In fact their history is full of gaps, wars, cruelties and highly questionable, manmade conventions...and it is well-documented. It's there for anyone to see and verify. The Nicene creed has no real teeth or anything to sustain it in a solid way. The whole affair turns out to be extremely questionable. (That's the internet for you.) No one really believes in the original Trinity doctrine, three-in-one. Today, in 2023, they go out of their way to stress the three, when for forever back, centuries back, it was all about "just One." That's not panning out for them. Most of all, we stopped letting them define the conversation with lazy, low-grade narratives like "a different Jesus," etc. We have taken charge of our own conversation, who we are, and what we believe, with greater strength and conviction. We're amazing; our gospel truths are beautiful and solidly Biblical. We've opened the Bible and said, "look at all these verses you're ignoring - have you ever heard them before"? But most of all, I realized that a Church centered on the Rock of our Redeemer cannot fall. It will not fall. We will continue to prosper and grow and spread. We have so much to offer everyone and we want everyone to have it. A working, tangible closeness to Jesus Christ Himself through sacred ordinances He established. I am so grateful to be a part of the Latter-day Saints on X and especially to have witnessed what's happened over the last six months. Godspeed. HT @kateiswell

Dear Christians who say Latter-day Saints are not Christians. This is sincere. We have no envy or desire to be counted as acceptable to your mainstream Christianity, any more than Christ wanted to be mainstream. The Pharisees and Sadducees were the prominent theologians of their day and slandered Christ with all manner of accusations. They made up false charges and rallied sentiment against Him. I just realized that's a type and shadow of our day. The same repeating pattern. 18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. (John 15:18-19) We treasure our God-authored theology with all its heavenly power. We are valiant in our testimony of the Savior, Jesus Christ. He is the only name under heaven by which anyone is saved. He was raised on the cross to draw all men unto Him. He atoned for our sins, and for that, we cannot give enough thanks or gratitude. He deeply loves you and he deeply loves me. We worship and revere God the Father as well. We are deeply thankful for the ministrations of the Holy Ghost. We are not walking in your shadow. We are not chasing you to be counted in your club. We have our own path - lit by fire of the Spirit and the glow of Heaven's errands to guide our way. We accomplish great things in our Lord Jesus Christ, who strengthens us. For the year 2022, our tithes and offerings covered many, many lovely works. Here is a partial list as reported by Elder Andersen (an apostle) in October: "From the generous tithes and offerings you have consecrated to the Lord, last year more than a billion US dollars were used to bless those in need. "In our momentous responsibility to take the restored gospel across the world, we have more than 71,000 missionaries serving in 414 missions. Because of your tithes and offerings, missionaries, regardless of their family financial situation, are able to serve. "Temples are being built across the world in unprecedented numbers. Currently, 177 temples are in operation, 59 are currently under construction or renovation, and 79 more are in planning and design. Your tithes are allowing the blessings of the temple to be in places only the Lord could foresee. "There are more than 30,000 congregations housed in thousands of chapels and other facilities in 195 countries and territories. Because of your faithful tithes, the Church is being established in faraway places you may never visit among righteous Saints you may never know. "The Church currently sponsors five institutions of higher learning. These serve more than 145,000 students. One hundred and ten thousand classes are being taught each week in our seminaries and institutes. "These blessings and so many more come in large measure from the young and old of every economic circumstance who pay an honest tithe." As for anyone's hateful heretic hunting, accusations, and slander - I have just one answer: "We respect your right to an opinion but unless you have a direct line to Jesus Christ, it is your opinion. We wish you well in your Christlike endeavors." May you find peace and joy in your path.
