@JadeandZiggy @ScottJenningsKY And you think Democrats have the answer to that with higher taxes, more regulation, and govt-run services?
You want them to turn HEB into a Mamdani market?
Plus this isn't just an abstract culture war, it has a real impact in Texas schools, hospitals, etc.
English

@ScottJenningsKY As a Texan I’m not walking into HEB thinking about genders. I’m thinking about gas, groceries, insurance, rent, and healthcare prices. Culture wars are tired. These bills don’t stop. They keep going up. That’s my concern.
English

@TheDilemmaLama @balajis We didn't though
We just lost the information of exactly how they did it. But no post Egyptian successor civilization couldn't have done it too if they wanted
I don't know exactly how my house was built either
English

@RockDocDoug @balajis My point is the Egyptions had techniques and we lost the information.
Today we do stuff and if civilisation collapsed we'd lose that information as well.
We'd eventually re-discover a way of doing it but the original is lost forever.
English

Western civilization has collapsed before.
But a few scholars preserved the ideas that once made Rome great. They made a backup, and it did eventually come all the way back.
It just took one thousand years.

Crémieux@cremieuxrecueil
Sneak peak of a small handful of the evidence from my forthcoming manuscript (summary coming to @palladiummag!) on how there's A LOT of quantitative evidence for the European Dark Ages. There are so many more graphs than these ^^
English

@BayouBomber @buster_mega45 That's the mouth of the river, not the head
Though it'd be weird building it at the head too since that's a rather small creek in northern Minnesota

English

@buster_mega45 99% for this idea.
1% knows it'd sink into the marsh within 50 years. We aren't taking care of our wetlands, our shoreline receding. They'd be statues in the middle of the gulf in 100years.
English

@TheDilemmaLama @balajis Are you suggesting that building the pyramids is beyond our current technological capacity?
We don't know exactly how they did it because there's several different theories about how they might have done it, not because it became impossible
English

@RockDocDoug @balajis Yet we can't work out how the pyramids were built.
We've lost plenty of knowledge over millenia.
English

@TheDilemmaLama @balajis That's not how dark ages work
It's not that knowledge is lost, but just that civilization stagnates, stops moving forward and creating new ideas
Europe never lost iron working or architecture, it's just that it lacked the collective will to do anything with it
English

Yeah each time it collapses we preserve more info and go back less far.
Next time I reckon we'll go back to Wild West style living.
We'll lose complex electronic capabilities but will keep Chemistry and Mechanical tools. Maybe even simple cars.
No more chips or long range power transmission.
English

@rich_coupe @Richard_Harambe Why is China even aware of her existence in the first place? Lol
English

@Richard_Harambe On the Chinese language Internet they called her 'The crying pig'
English

@bonchieredstate They swing on a dime from "punch all fascists" to "the govt should force everyone to live the way I think they should"
English

@grok @TherionWare @SteffyReefy @Arnie4USA Looking at his overall post history, does he use solid rhetoric and good-faith arguments to make his points? Characterize his temperament and use of logic
English

TherionWare From this thread, SteffyReefy is an account that pushes the idea the BC/AD to BCE/CE change is a deliberate Jewish conspiracy to undermine Christianity. Posts repeatedly blame "Jews" (or "Jewish atheists"), use terms like "goy," dismiss critics as ignorant, and frame neutral academic terminology as persecution while invoking "noticing." The style is confrontational and conspiratorial.
English

@SteffyReefy @TherionWare @Arnie4USA "anyone who disagrees with me is under Jewish influence, and that proves that the Jews are behind everything"
Circular logic is a fallacy
English

@SteffyReefy @TherionWare @Arnie4USA It's because the Muslim apocalyptic Shiites are trying to get a nuclear weapon to attack Israel and the US to bring about the return of the twelfth Imam and the end of days
English

@RockDocDoug @TherionWare @Arnie4USA Why are we at war with Iran, dipshit?
Is it because of the "atheists"?
English

Fidel Castro planned to visit Seattle for December 1999 World Trade Organizational Ministerial meeting. @LincolnDBalart and his staff sent this letter to approximately 3,000 state and federal prosecutors, asking to charge and arrest Castro for BTTR murders. Because of this effort, Fidel canceled his trip. 30 years later, justice being done.

English

@weroance @GirthBrooksVol @TheBabylonBee You're inventing new interpretation 2000 years later
What he said was what he said. Peter, the person, was his rock, and Peter, the person, was the foundation of Jesus' Church
English

@RockDocDoug @GirthBrooksVol @TheBabylonBee but inventing new interpretation of this verse 400 years after the fact so you can claim your bishop has political authority over the other churches and their bishops is OK?
English

@weroance @GirthBrooksVol @TheBabylonBee He doesn't say Simon's faith is his rock. He says Simon is.
You're putting words in Jesus' mouth, and that isn't very Christian or biblical
English

@RockDocDoug @GirthBrooksVol @TheBabylonBee Can you say anything that logically explains how calling peter a rock and saying his faith is Jesus is the foundation of his church means that he is a literal pope? I support the church but the claim that todays pope is Jesus' chosen leader is not supported by that statement.
English

@SteffyReefy @TherionWare @Arnie4USA Lol prove you're not a Jew
You can't do it, because unfalsifiable arguments aren't real arguments
English

@RockDocDoug @TherionWare @Arnie4USA Yeah, you're not Catholic, you're a jew too. What's YOUR brilliant theory for why Jesus was removed from the date system, genius.
English

@SteffyReefy @TherionWare @Arnie4USA Your premise is both jumping to a conclusion without evidence and making faulty assumptions
Atheists have widespread institutional influence in academia
English

@RockDocDoug @TherionWare @Arnie4USA Argument, using logic:
Jews, atheists, and Muslims would be 3 primary groups that would advocate for the date change.
Of the 3, only jews have widespread institutional power.
Ergo, it was jews.
And the facts bear it out.
English

@GirthBrooksVol @StunProdStud @TheBabylonBee It literally is
You're saying Jesus never called Simon Peter His rock, he was referring to Himself
But Jesus literally named Simon "Rock"
English

@RockDocDoug @StunProdStud @TheBabylonBee Catch up. The debate isn’t about the meaning of Peter’s name in Aramaic or Greek.
English

@GirthBrooksVol @StunProdStud @TheBabylonBee Greek, not Aramaic
Petros is where we get words like petroglyph and petroleum
English

@StunProdStud @RockDocDoug @TheBabylonBee Everyone knows what Peter in Aramaic means. It makes even less sense.
“This rock”
Not “you” (Peter)
English
