Habitat loss is a silent threat. With Uganda's human population growing, lion migration corridors have been blocked. Our strategic plan focuses on restoring these key habitats and securing open landscapes so our lions have the space they need to roam and breed. #HumanWildlifeConflict

The Uganda Wildlife Authority @ugwildlife and @TourismBoardUg need to address a serious issue in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
There are now very few animals being seen in the park. Seeing lions has become very difficult, and visitors can drive for many kilometers without seeing even antelopes. This is disappointing for tourists.
Some of my guests even asked, “Where are the animals?” This shows there is a real problem.
Please look into this issue and take action so that visitors can have a better experience.

Through discussions & quizzes, l engaged learners in secondary schools neighbouring Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda, on the impacts of human activities & infrastructure on wildlife. This is part of my road ecology project supported by @ruffordgrants.

A new UP-led global study challenges the widely repeated claim that wildlife populations have crashed by 73%. African data tells a different story: many species are stable or even increasing when conservation is done right. Evidence matters. Context matters. Africa’s successes matter.

I am Endel Stamberg, a climate activist from Germany. Uganda forest cover is shrinking. And one of the forest in Uganda has been sold for agribusiness. I’m calling upon activists around the world to add their voices on mine and #SaveBugomaForest!

Poisoned carcasses, claws and teeth removed, and evidence of organised trade. This should deeply disturb every one of us who cares about the future of lions. iol.co.za/dailynews/opin…

The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) is being marketed as a nature friendly development, but the data tells a much more dangerous story. As we look at the maps and the ecological data, the risks to one of the worlds most biodiverse regions are staggering.
The 1445 km pipeline doesnt just pass near sensitive areas, it cuts through them. It intersects 44 Protected Areas and 7 Key Biodiversity Areas. The Albertine Graben, where it begins, is home to 50% of Africas birds and 40% of its mammals.
The pipeline crosses the Victoria Nile within a Ramsar listed wetland. A leak here could contaminate Lake Victoria, the primary water source for approximately 40 million people across five countries. This isnt just an environmental risk; its a humanitarian one.
The route crosses the East African Rift Valley, a region highly prone to earthquakes and landslides. TotalEnergies own assessments admit spills will occur, yet the infrastructure is being laid in one of the most geologically unstable regions on the continent.
The term Ecocide isnt used lightly here. The campaign highlights that while corporate language focuses on mitigation, the actual route maps show a path of potential destruction for ecosystems that can never be restored once lost.

We arent just witnessing a decline; we are witnessing an unravelling of the systems that make our air breathable and our soil alive. New data from the Living Planet Index confirms a terrifying reality: global wildlife populations have plummeted by 73% in just 50 years (1970–2020).
The burden of this extraction is not shared equally. The Global South is being hollowed out to fuel endless growth:
Latin America & Caribbean: -95%
Africa: -76%
Asia-Pacific: -60%
North America: -39%
Europe & Central Asia: -35%
This isnt an accident. It is a calculated result of:
1. Industrial Food Systems: Forests cleared for meat and soy.
2. Fossil Fuels: Driving a climate collapse that bleaches reefs and melts habitats.
3. Endless Extraction: Rivers choked by dams and chemicals for profit.
Every extinct species is a warning sign. Every forest cut is a wound. We, specifically our economic systems and the wealthy elite, are acting as the asteroid.
The window to change is closing fast. We must move beyond. We must BOYCOTT FOSSIL FUELS.
