@JSchimenti1982 @JCMacriNBA And there were criticisms of Thibs, but in absolutely no world did it end badly, Thibs is the most successful coach in the franchise since Riley and potentially holzman given he didn’t have the benefit of #1 pick. Also bulls love Thibs.

@JSchimenti1982 @JCMacriNBA Knicks were 9-6 last January, with losses to min, det and 2 to okc. Thibs outperformed every single year with the Knicks. This is insane revisionist history.

I’m not sure there’s another explanation. The only way a team as talented as the Knicks can play this badly is if they’re collectively utterly miserable. I don’t know if that’s the same as “quitting” but it’s certainly something.

@JCMacriNBA Has Mike Brown already lost the locker room before All Star break?

@SubzerofromNY @JCMacriNBA Knicks were the healthiest team in the league last year and made the conference finals. They made a complete roster overhaul trade on the eve of training camp. And Thibs beat the defending champs in a playoff series and took us to the conference finals.

@RogerDorn24 @JCMacriNBA Oh yeah we need to go back to burning out our starters by having them try to be wilt chamberlain and play 50 minutes a night because that’s toughness. Forget everything that happened the last two playoff series. No the result would’ve been much different this year

Belmont stab- taking a moonshot on Resilience #2. If wrong could be last. Positive on connections, pedigree, lightly raced. Reminds me of Drosselmeyer, Mott’s last Belmont win. Will box 2-5-9. So many possibles that quoting Yeats, “it troubles my sight.”

@TBoneSteak34 @Jack_McClendon The selection committee should have a character clause like Cooperstown. Personally, I'd keep Duke out. I've met Jon Scheyere (sp?), and he, sir, is no Coach K.

@matt_levine We’re not going to talk about materiality in the section on Buffett? We think he’s spiting his $100B position to enrich his personal portfolio that is 0.0001% of his net worth?

It has been challenging for me to watch from the sidelines as Money Stuff has failed to take advantage of a newsletter that is more relevant today than ever before. bloomberg.com/opinion/articl…

@mattbird55 @TheGarpInvestor Didn’t charge 2&20, charged a percentage of profits over a stated return (depended on partnership, most frequently cited is 25% of profits after 6% hurdle), never charged a mgmt fee

@TheGarpInvestor In The Snowball it says his boyhood goal was to be the richest guy in the world, which he did achieve, partially through charging 2 & 20 in his early years plus rapid compounding.

A reminder that had Buffett wanted to, he could have paid himself exorbitant amounts of $$ as compensation, easily 10's of millions per year and maybe even more these days. Shareholders and board members alike would have happily done so had he asked, he was worth it. Instead he paid himself a pittance and $BRK shareholders were the beneficiaries.

Again, James Dolan is by no means a perfect NBA team owner...but over the last decade, he's done everything he can to get the Knicks back to a contender And it finally seems to be working

Hard for me to believe Buffett doesn’t have an opinion on inflation, oil prices and even the prices of commodities in general given he’s got $45b invested in 2 oil/gas companies and he continues to increase investments in the Japanese trading houses which import natural resources

@cbruning2 @InvestSpecial Don’t view lease obligation as true debt, obviously no bullet payment, avg term remaining 25 years, ample cash, no near term maturities, drag from interactive has ceased and is reversing. More fleshed out in the write up.

@InvestSpecial What about debt & lease obligations? $11.3b net debt and just 1.5x debt service ratio… sure the business is better vs. pre-covid but the balance sheet sure isn’t

@dnaumov @oddballstocks Bc loans have floating rates. I think you’re conflating the securities (fixed rate, losses as mkt rates have risen) with the 70B of loans, which were largely “investor dependent” and “cash flow dependent”, not traditional bank loans that would normally attract bids @ these levels
