BTW, the @RCPolitics false narrative piece was written by Republican Congressman @Cline4Virginia. Besides Cline’s being geographically ignorant as to where his Democratic U.S. House colleagues live, Cline found it “difficult to imagine” what rural Virginians might “have in common economically” with Fairfax residents. According to former Republican Governor @GlennYoungkin’s 2024 Department of Taxation report, Fairfax has a total State Income Tax Liability of about $4 billion. So, “economically,” Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, and Arlington Counties, account for about $7.3 billion, and the 91 counties outside of the D.C. suburbs account for about $5.8 billion combined. Amongst Virginia’s 95 counties, those 4 “D.C. suburbs” counties contribute about 55% of the state income tax revenue, and the 91 Virginia counties outside of the “D.C. suburbs” contribute about 45%. Cline’s claims are “geographically” ignorant and “economically” inverted. Economically proportional congressional districts would actually allocate six out of Virginia’s eleven members to the “D.C. suburbs.” However, such underlying facts didn’t stop Cline and his fellow Republican member of Congress @JenKiggans (VA02) from pushing out their bizarro-world narrative. tax.virginia.gov/sites/default/…

Wrong. Fairfax County is 13% of Virginia’s population, and currently 9% of Virginia’s members of Congress “live in Fairfax.”Currently, Fairfax is underrepresented in the U.S. House of Representatives. IF the referendum passes, and IF the new maps take effect, and IF a Fairfax resident were to win the CD7 primary, and IF that Fairfax person won the general election, that would bring Fairfax’s delegation in Congress to two of VA’s eleven members. @RCPolitics’ title is that “Dems Lie” while falsely claiming that “The configuration ensures that most rural voters will be represented by people who live in Fairfax” which is actually impossible. Fairfax County, which has 13% of Virginia’s population, could either have 9% or 18% of Virginia’s representation in Congress. Unless @DonBeyerVA (Alexandria City), @YVindman (Prince William County), and @SuhasforVA (Loudoun County) all moved to join @JamesWalkinshaw as residents of Fairfax County, this is fake news.

@beachmamax2 No, Virginia Beach has a population of about 454k and a Congressional District in Virginia has a population of about 788k. Virginia Beach is about 58% of a single Congressional District. Fairfax County is about 142% of a single Congressional District.

Fun fact: Virginia Beach is the most populated city in Virginia, yet we only have ONE person representing us in Congress. Does that mean we are underrepresented too?

A major step closer to ending the Virginia car tax! 👏 .@LilyForDelegate first ever bill passed to help Virginians and lower everyday costs. Sad to see so many Va House Republicans sit this one out.

If on the road this weekend, make sure to be fully prepared! But in all seriousness, listen to your local officials, stay off the roads, and stay safe—getting stuck on the highway for 27 hours is not fun!

What a State of the Commonwealth address by Her Excellency, Governor @SpanbergerForVA! “We are competing against 49 other states for the best talent in the United States… And on my watch as Governor, I do not intend to lose. I intend for Virginia to dominate.”
