On 29 July 2025 I was refused entry to NSW Parliament by NSW police special constables and the security manager because I was wearing a hoodie with the word Palestine on it and was filming the interaction. This is just one instance of racism that I’ve experienced as a Lebanese Australian who opposes Israel’s genocide in Gaza and illegal attacks on Lebanon. On 23 July 2025 I was also refused entry to the House of Representatives public gallery at Parliament House in Canberra because I was wearing a keffiyeh. I’m currently standing as a preselection candidate for the @GreensNSW for the Legislative Council. If I’m elected at the state election next year, police and security will not be able to prevent me from entering NSW Parliament, which will be my workplace.
