EOD Field Mission Log, ELYSIUM
Reporting: Prospector @RogueCmdr and Prospector @rogue_amarah
Primary objective on landing was to establish contact with EDEN via the CONT4CT device.
Touchdown successful. Immediate scouting for caves and nearby resources.
Within minutes I encountered three hostile creatures Mo identified as Storca. Quadruped predators with elongated limbs and horned cranial structures, extremely fast across frozen terrain. Movement pattern somewhere between raptor and antelope. They hunt in packs.
Seconds later, I was ambushed by a Slinker, and that contact rolled straight into another Storca pack before I could reset position.
We also encountered multiple individual Skulk during movement. New Elysium lifeform the scanners are labeling “Skulk.” Low, heavily built quadruped covered in layered, plate-like hide. The head is dominated by a jagged mass of teeth and horned protrusions, giving it a brutal, almost armored appearance. Hostile and aggressive, it advances with a heavy stalking gait before closing distance quickly to attack.
Eventually located a cave and held position. During movement between shelters I also encountered large venomous cave spiders active at night near the entrances of both caves.
Observed smaller primate-like creatures designated Gribblers. Baboon-like, arboreal, watching from the treeline. Not immediately aggressive, but they became hostile if I lingered too long in their territory.
Non-hostile wildlife sightings included pygmy lop rabbits and a family pair of Tuskers (mother and child).
Princess_Amirah, our young daughter, touched down after dark. Escorted her safely back to shelter.
Rogue_Amarah landed soon after. We began establishing a FOB in the cave before relocating to a larger one nearby.
After relocating, we attempted to reconnect with the OEI Orbital Exchange Interface network but were unable to establish a signal. With OEI unavailable, we proceeded with the mission objective and used the CONT4CT device to reach EDEN command.
To help orbital locate us, we constructed and launched a flare at sufficient altitude to be seen from the orbital habitat. The signal worked, and it triggered an immediate response. Fourteen plus TPS drones descended on our position.
We managed to destroy them. The wreckage yielded useful resources, including nearly one hundred rounds of pistol ammunition.
Mo later identified the likely cause of the network disruption, a TPS communications tower somewhere nearby. That relay will need to be destroyed before we can fully reestablish contact.
During the same operation we also cleared two Arctic Vesper caves, one encountered by accident and the second intentionally. Recovered roughly three hundred units of guano. Rogue_Amarah continues to insist her envirosuit still smells terrible.
The guano allowed us to quickly produce fertilizer for gunpowder and ammunition. Shotgun shells were completely depleted and bone arrows were proving ineffective against the drones.
Tomorrow we move out to locate and destroy the TPS communications relay and restore our connection to the network.
