All well and good Mike but we’re dealing with the government controlled @BCCI here. Nothing would give them greater pleasure than hurting the PSL. Then there’s the rampant @IPL teams, who care for nothing beyond their dressing room door.

No one’s questioning family matters that’s personal. But 7 matches in a short IPL season isn’t a small gap, it’s almost half your campaign.
Franchises spend crores and build entire bowling plans around players. Pulling out this close forces a complete reset, not just a minor tweak.
And let’s be honest - if this was an Indian player, the same people defending this would be calling it “unprofessional” and “lack of commitment”.
There are clearly two standards.
At some point, professional commitment has to matter. You can’t just show up when it suits you and skip when it doesn’t.
Either IPL is serious… or it’s just convenient.
